Default Kindle fire camera

Sorry if somebody has already brought this up, but after searching I didn't find anything. I just got my fire laast night and there appears to be a camera in the top left corner. I know all the specs say there is no camera, but there does in fact appear to be one. Can anyone else confirm?

I think that's just the ambient light sensor. The first firmware had support for automatic brightness, but that was removed, so it's essentially useless now.

Default Not a camera.

Just a sensor, nothing to do with a camera. Never saw a camera in the tear down thread so I am pretty sure it isn't one.

Yah I know so sad. Cause from the tare down it seems that it would have cost only 10.50 or something i know i read that somewhere for a front and back camera. But I still love this thing

I don't want a camera in mine, my phone's cam is plenty for quick shots. Why is the ambient sensor disabled?

When it was turned on on mine, it was pretty wonky. I think that's why.

For 5 million Fires, that would of only cost Amazon an extra $50,000,000

But I bet with it, it would sell even more cause it is more of a tablet then especially for people on this form who will probably put a custom romantic on it the moment they are available, no?
