Default Notifications
Not sure if this howeve the android are. But when I get a text or email my phone foes not wake up and show the notification. I have to unlock to view

That's an iPhone thing. Mine doesn't do that either.
Current Daily Device(s) - Galaxy Note 2 - CleanROM 3.3
Backup Device - Galaxy Nexus* - Returned to 100% stock.
Previous Devices - Moto RAZR (xt910), EVO 3D GSM (Super Yellow Screen!, Slow Developing on GSM), 2 HTC Sensations Returned and Refunded (Dust under screen x2, blurry yellow screen, broken vibrator), HTC Desire Z* - Andromadus Mimicry v1.5.0, Galaxy S GT-I9000M SD Failure. iPhone 3GS*, iPhone 2g*, Moto Razr V3...
* Still own.

You won't find an Android phone that will wake upon receipt of a message/notification by default. Most users (including myself) find functionality like that annoying, and a waste of battery.

There are some 3rd party apps available in the market, that may provide that type of functionality though.

I just saw a buddy of mine he has Samsung galaxy s and it does that.

There is an app called supper fly. I will give it a try.
