I have a captivate fully flashed an working perfectly on this rom, but when I flashed my girlfriend's phone the Imei of the phone os not loaded correctly, it shows a generic imei ending in 40000 and after while the carrier network refuses connection.
Another problem is that it does not recognize the external sd card. I have rebooted, waited for hours, manually tryed to mount the sd card but still wont load.
Both problems go away when I flash any GB ROM, phone works fine then.
is anyone else having gps issues with build 17 and the latest nightlies? I can't get GPS to get a lock in anything but the "GPS Test" application. I keep having to open "GPS Test", get a lock, and then open the other application that i really want gps for (run keeper). Before you blame run keeper, I also can't see any satellites with the GPS Test app.

Not here. First lock after wipe/install takes a good minute but mine are pretty quick after that.
What modem are you using? Have you tried a different modem? (modem does affect gps doesn't it??)

Thanks!
I'd first ask, what ROM did you come from, and which one did you flash?
What you can try is flash to GB stock, copy the contents of your system/efs/ folder, onto your micro sd. Flash ICS, and if the IMEI is not correct, copy/paste your backup

I had the jv4 modem for the last 10 builds or so and hadn't had any issues. I just tried switching to the KG3 modem a couple of days ago and get the same thing. It seems as if the apps aren't able to initialize the gps. It works fine if i use GPS Test and then immediately open the other app. RunKeeper shows GPS as full strength and GPSStatus shows a lock very fast and several satellites. If I only open GPSStatus without opening anything else, It sees 1 satellite and can't get a lock.
I was wondering if any kind, experienced users out there would be willing to help talk me through the flashing process for my specific situation. My cappy is currently rooted, running the last version of the Firefly froyo ROM (released last April). As such, I have clockwork recovery all ready to go. But I am confused by the switch from 2.2 to 4.0, and if there is anything extra I need to do besides Tibu backup, wipe, and then flash the new ROM using clockwork recovery. Do I need to flash a 2.3 ROM first? Is Tibu going to give me problems? Should I revert to stock first? Odin? Heimdall? I'm so confused!!
I know this is a deep question, so if someone wants to DM me instead, that would be amazing. Essentially, I'm looking for a step-by-step explanation of how to get from Firefly, a 2.2 ROM, to this or another ICS ROM, with the smallest chance of flashing complications.

Any good samaritans out there? THANK YOU!
- First time flashing ICS to your Captivate (or coming from another ROM)?
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
- Upgrading from CM7?

i did a factory reset/data wipe... wipe cache. the gps seems good now. the phone also seems snappier. I haven't done a full wipe of the phone in a while. I've just been installing the updates.
