People may wish to know that the new 64GB Sandisk uSDXC memory cards work successfully on the Toshiba TG01...

As supplied the card is formatted as the new exFAT. To use in the TG01 simply reformat to FAT32 (I used Acronis Disk Director on a PC) and then it will work just like any other card in the TG01. This is what you get as a result

That was very easy ! ...CD albums stored as .wav (1:1, uncompressed). Each album takes about 700MB... extracted using Exact Audio Copy.

I have parallel ripped to .mp3 (VBR 192 kBits/s) for use in the car where quality is less important, but am also contemplating re-saving as .flac files to reduce space a bit on the TG01 while retaining a 1:1 bit image. But the bigger uSDCX card certainly makes for a wholly better selection available on tap without having to swap from the PC so often. And there are suggestions that the format is theoretically capavle of being extended up to 2TB !!! Now that really would be something

Best regards,

Kevin

The best I found was Amazon UK at £96 last weekend with free post (proper Amazon rather than a 3rd party supplier), but the price and availability is going up and down all the time...

PS. is also available at Play.com for £99 free postage.

Regards,

Kevin

Wow Kevin thanks for posting this! Just wondering does it affect battery life at all? 96 quid? That's around what I paid for the phone itself! Think I'll wait before buying one
Current Device: Nexus 7 (locked yet to be rooted)
RIP Toshiba TG01 (sold for 120Euro)

I don't think the actual memory size affects the battery, but the class size.

The higher the class, the faster the memory card, but I think it can affect battery life

As Oly suggests the higher Class (speed rating) probably does affect power consumption to some degree (equivalent to difference between a 5400 or 7200rpm hard disc). Personally I think the trade for double the storage capacity and higher speed well worth while, since there is no discernable loss of endurance.

However I don't believe the storage capacity should have any meaningful impact on battery life. Since is non-volatile storage, it is not going to use more energy to read a music album's or a film's worth of data on a big card than a small one - it's the same amount of data. Perhaps there could be an impact if you do a lot more write actions (eg. beacaus of having a big card, then being able to take and store lots more photos), but I suspect would still be negligible compared to other significant power drains such as the backlight or radios.

Best regards,

Kevin

What's the speed of this compared to a Class 10 micro SD card?
