[Q] Transformer Prime Microphone Quality?

I had the Acer A500 tablet for a couple months, and was happy with it, except for the microphone. So I ended up returning it, deciding to wait for the Prime or other tablet which is able to deliver on the ICS promise of decent voice input.

I haven't seen complaints so far about recording ability or microphone issues on Prime, but then haven't seen any tests either. Can anyone who has had access to one, confirm the mic seems decent, and voice input has a chance to work?

Only thing I can say is from watching several reviews, the Prime had 2 mics. One on each side of it. Two pinholes on each side that was said to be the mics. I'm assuming if they using sonic master for the audio on speakers, the mic quality should should be decent to great also.

I've had my UK Prime for less than 24 hours, but unless I'm missing something really obvious, I can't get the mic to owork at all - maybe have to wait for ICS?

There are two pinholes, one at the top and one on the side. The one on top is the microphone, the one on the side is a reset button. There's only one microphone on the Prime, but I've found it to work very well for both voice search and audio recording.

I've recorded several videos and the sound has been pretty good. I was surprised when I could hear the three year old about 10 feet away mimicking his mom.

OH and my voice searches have all been very accurate.

Hi - to the first reply, I purchased itr from PC World. It seems that some of the PCW Megastores have one in stock if you ask for it (all Grey as far as I know).

Back to the Mic - I've tried Sound Recorder and Voice Calendar, and neither one registers any input from the mic - I'll try video this morning, but I think I must be missing something obvous, or else I've got a faulty one...

Just tried video, and still no joy - lokks like a dead mic and a trip back to PCW :(

I've been back to PC world, and as if by magic, the mic is working now (having apparently chnged nothing - weird!).

All I have to do now is get the GPS to fire up!

Would the Mic be good enough to record a meeting or conversion at a table?

and if your typing notes on the touch screen at the same time, does the tapping spoil the audio recording?

I'm thinking particularly of using the Evernote app.

when using skype, the other end is complaining about the sound. it is too weak. when i run elixer2, i see just 34 db.
i guess i need some enhancer. can t find any
