[Q] Unlock bootloader, clockworkmod, then root?

Just wondering if you install clockworkmod. and then after just run superboot to fully root the phone? What are the benefits of clockworkmod also.

Yes clockwork need. Benefits are many. Able to flash custom rom(s), kernel (s), restore from nandroid, dalvik & cache wipes other things possible.
