Default Question about changing launcher default

How does one reset the default launcher when I have two installed but don't want to install or reinstall any?

Hi there, to achieve it, you have to do these;
1. Press Menu
2. Go to Setting
3. Go to Applications
4. Go to Manage Applications
5. Select the launcher you want to clear the default.
6. Press the setting that says "clear default".
7. Press the home key and you will be presented with a pop-up menu to select which launcher you want to use.
8. If you tick set as default while in the pop-up.menu, the next time you press the home key, you will go straight to that launcher.
9. If you didn't tick the set as default, you will be presented pop-up menu everytime you press the home key.

Please try and post feedback.

Regards and TQ,
Morisa

Legend thanks very much.
Is there any way to alter touchwiz in a similar fashion to ADW or GO?
Like extra columns / rows etc?

Hi senectus,
I didn't use TouchWiz and am sorry for not be able to assist you there. I am on Go Launcher. I like it and suit my needs.

Morisa

TW isnt as customizable as any third party launcher...

what i always do after installing my preferred Launcher is to freeze the TW via Titanium backup and then reboot...

That sounds interesting.
What's "freeze touchwiz" mean?

you have to install titanium backup from the market, let it initialize then have it with root access, find the TWlauncher file from of isntalled apps, long press then choos
e "freeze"... why? so that it wont create conflict to the system specially when you have other launcher installed. if you want to revert back to stock Touchwiz, you can always unfreeze it...

Thats interesting.
I haven't heard of that before.
Do you think it would improve performance or battery life doing that?

What happens when you install the other launcher and tw is "frozen"?

another option is to try "AutoStarts" and prevent TWL from launching. i did that and it seems to be working (previously some apps still ask which launcher i want to open, despite setting the default one already)

AutoStarts also helps in stopping unwanted apps from starting at boot, even system ones (i hope this is what it does, and not just kills them, although i notice more ram after booting for a while than previously)
