you guys need to find a way to reproduce this and report it.
Once we have a fairly easy way to reproduce the problem, everyone who uses smemo should be telling Samsung about this problem until they fix it. Every time a new firmware is released Samsung should be reminded that this bug is not fixed.
I work in technical support and trust me - it is best to be noisy and persistent about this. (not in a spammy or rude way). It's pretty bad since there is trivial way to sync s memos.
I've replicated this bug twice... by accident! And now I am so angry and almost screaming Go to hell, Samsung!
Is any way to write any feedback or is anythere bug report or something at Samsung?
You could open this Link in your browsers phone and then open it using the Market. Thsi gives you the option to send a feedback email to Samsung. I don't see that option on the browser view of the market, it has to be done on the device then. https://market.android.com/details?i...p.diotek.smemo

Not to hijack this thread, but I have another bug with Note that difficult to miss. It's simple. I sync my Note to Google Docs or Evernote. Then I factory reset my phone wiping out everything. Then I sync S-Memo to Google Docs or Evernote again. But now the images that come back to the Note are half size. If I repeat these steps, they will get smaller and smaller with each cycle of syncing. I can view the images in Evernote online and they are normal. Once sync'd back to the phone, they get reduced in size to half their original sizes, and each image gets placed onto whatever your current default memo background is. In other words, if you drew a picture on a blue striped background. Now you changed the default background to the tan colored one. If you do a sync, the image which has a blue background will appear in S-Memo, half size, including it's blue background, on top of a tan background. It's not simply retrieving the information you uploaded, it's recreating it and screwing it up in the process. Samsung has to be kidding with these kinds of problems.
So its obviously not "natively" syncing to GDocs/EvNo but as pictures only. Was hoping it would somehow sync the native files...
However, to give feedback to Sammy, open the link above on the device, select Market to complete the action and then chose to send the Author an email. You may summarize the issue and send them the link to this thread. It might help.

Galaxy Note running the latest firmware, LB1. Tried to replicate the bug with no "success", everything works as it should. Probably the bug is gone on the latest rom.
BTW, syncing with Google Docs and Evernote saves editable copies, not just images.
You can edit, copy and paste text directly with Google Docs on the web.
What I find "Unbelievable and unforgivable" is that those of you who have lost "very important data" don't have a backup strategy...
I LOVE the Note and when I am out and about I use it practically as a computer.
I sync my notes with Google Docs and regularly back them up (with the rest of my data) with MyBackup Pro (the stock Kies sw is a very good and free alternative). Once a month or whenever I upgrade the rom I also do a Nandroid backup.
I have NEVER lost data on any of my smartphones nor PCs.
Long time not using S Memo. Due to the recent posts in this thread, I tried it again just now.
I sent complaint mail to Samsung on the same day when I encountered the bug, and phone complaints to local support as well. Samsung did fix it.
With version 12.01.16.4671 on stock room LA1, I could no longer replicate that bug (remark: I could replicate the bug again and again when i opened this thread.)
I also noticed that this latest version now supports a pile placed inside a folder. If this were already supported in the very first version, I would not have encountered this bug.
Responding to the previous post, I do want to have backup, but there is no decent backup scheme for S Memo at all. Its data cannot be accessed outside the S Memo app unless you have rooted the device, which I don't want to do on my business use device. The built in sync feature is just a workaround, because uploaded memos will all become images in Google docs. So now I've switched to Freenote to take meeting notes.
Thanks for the heads up. For those of you willing to root your devices, titanium is a life saver. I use it because I'm constantly trying out new roms and it just makes the whole re-setup process go so quick and smooth. I was just fiddling and finally figured out how to have JUST my s-memo and messages backed up on a daily basis. Brilliant!
BTW: Did anyone figure out a way to restore all the memos after titanium restore without having to click on each one?
