Quick question.

Is it really absolutely not necessary to wipe when flashing a new nightly when coming from a previous CM9 one?

Anyone see the "Yahoo API is down.." almost all the time when checking the appspot change log site like me? Is it actually down that often?

Not unless you experience any problems after flashing the new nightly.

No. Just flash the ROM. You don't need to reflash Gapps either. All your apps are in /data/apps and /data/data that has nothing to do with the new flash.

But IF you get problems, you might have to try to wipe.

Solely in terms of battery time, does this ROM have a better battery time than AOKP?
I'm only responsible for what I say, not for what you understand.

Phone: Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S III running CrapWiz.
Tablet: ASUS Nexus 7 WiFi 32GB running SmoothROM.

It exceeds it's bandwidth from time to time. IIRC it's not an "official" site but is maintained by someone else.
