I really like my MotoACTV, and I'm really trying hard to figure out how to actually get some use out of it... but haven't had much luck. Even have a sweet leather watchband that works perfectly. But I can't connect to web via BT and that appears to be it's Achilles' heel, as it doesn't make sense to use wi-fi due to battery drain. Didn't have any luck with android tether, either.

You could also try Nook Tether assuming your phone is rooted as well.
I did, but for whatever reason it doesn't recognize a BT PAN. At one point, right after rooting the moto, I remember seeing some BT PAN preferences on the moto but now I can't find them.

That wristband is DOPE! Where or how did you make it? It looks quite comfortable...
I basically sketched out the design and had it made at a leather shop. Cost me $40 at the time, but it's been a few years now. It just so happened to fit the moto perfectly. I did see some cool ones on Etsy, but the ones I liked were 150+...

What phone/ROM are you using? I can tether via my Cyanogen Evo4G but my FreEvo3D is a dud.
I used BT tether for all of a week before it got old. As a watch it's pretty cool...but staring at that screen to read an email is pointless. Texts (that I dont need to reply to), call alerts, GPS, and music are the only functions I really use and none require constant data (I thought I would need BT for Pandora but the FM radio works so well I havent bothered).
I believe there is a charge to get it from Play. He was offering it to the XDA community for free.
Wish I knew before I bought it
Oh well, at a buck I'm not too worried.

I never find that I wished I had internet on mine all the time. I installed a notepad app and it's become my primary note taker, calculator app, and a couple simple games for killing some quick time. I also have a calender widget on one of my home screens which has come in handy numerous times.
Hey guys, sorry about the hiatus, but I am back, and I have the MOTOACTV from TheEndGame7. I've had enough time to play around with this, get used to it, and form a few new ideas about what to do in a custom rom.
But before that, my agenda is 1) release updated stock images for both the 8gb and the 16gb (only the US models; if someone has a stock EU version, let me know) 2) release a universal rooting update.zip that will root any device and any version on the fly.
After that, I will begin work on a custom ROM for the US versions (unless the EU versions receive a stock update.zip) of the device, named "HyprActv"

I think what you're both stating makes a lot of sense...I've been searching for a calendar apk, I think that'd be handy. Notes, calc, music are cool (care to share apks?) I really do wish it had a vibration feature to remind me of calendar items - that would be the clincher. I can't use it for displaying texts b/c I use GoogleVoice, and they don't seem to register using the Motoactv app.
Thanks for the sound input, gentlemen. Now that there's a new ROM from CEnnis 91 on the horizon, I've got some hopes that my investment will pay off.

I can tell ya first hand that Google voice on a Motoactv is not worth the effort. Talk about eye strain.
Not too long ago, we talked about how Sony was continuing its AOSP efforts on … more
