Can I use the same modified boot.img for the 1.7.11 on my 1.7.12 Motoactv 8gb? Or is there an easier way???

I have the same problem, posted a couple of months back, Using the same O/S as you too, I uninstalled reinstalled time and time again, but no joy, My pc makes the sound to say usb device connected then another to say its not reconised.
I have resorted to using an old laptop running xp.

Can not return to stoke image 1.7.12.

I first upgrade my 8GB to 1.7.12. Then I try the root method in motoactv.wikispaces. It works fine. But when I want to "return to stoke", it just downgrade to 1.7.3. And only can upgrade to 1.7.10 now. I try to flash the stoke image manually. But it always end up with 1.7.10.

Either somebody at motorola made a huge mistake or they decided to merge both golf and non-golf updates. Strange, because the golf edition with 1.7.10 cannot be updated to 1.7.12 yet.

Changing it to HOME, allows you to change between launchers, leaving the original start button for its stock funtion and eliminating the need for a "soft-button" application.

Attached is a modified cpcap-key.kl if you want to try this route, extract it somewhere in your computer and install it from a terminal:

adb remount
adb push cpcap-key.kl /system/usr/keylayout/

Reboot now. If you have another launcher installed, double press the power button and it should ask you which one to use.

Nope, nothing has changed re that file.

Do you have another launcher installed?

If you go into settings, does it go to the watch screen when you double-press the power button?

So the MOTOACTV Root Tool does work on 1.7.12?

No, it works find on 1.7.11&1.7.12. The only issue is that you can not "return to stoke" to 1.7.11 or 1.7.12 after rooted. It's one way ticket.
