Has anyone tried changing the htc view mied to a htc evo 4g mied and then activate onto sprint? Wouldnt this then give us a voice plan on sprint with the view? Then just have to update the build.proc?

So, is there any other way to get these devices activated on Sprint voice plans? I tried to get a friend at the non-corporate Sprint store to try, but no-go.

DONATE TO ME
How about making a port like Metro or Boost as the other EVO's to get full phone ability?

Does this work on Sprint service? Sprint offers GV "integration" and I'm not sure how to forward to GTalk with the integration.

Me too. I'm really annoyed that I can't connect my BT headset for GrooveIP and Skype.

The following will allow you to use your Sprint number to make and receive calls on the View (otherwise, you can just use a free Google Voice number):

I was able to get this to work, but first had to switch the View's "assigned" phone number to a regular Sprint phone (added to existing family plan). It should not matter what kind of phone. I then integrated that regular phone/number with Google Voice. Once that was complete, I switched that number/line back to the View (removed from family plan). Sprint will let you integrate a voice device only to Google Voice, but once you switch back, they do not remove that option from the line. I was not charged any fees for switching the number and then switching back, however, YMMV.

Setup Google Voice to forward to Google Chat instead of Sprint Phone and setup GrooveIP with the Google Voice info. May have to enable Google Talk also.

Has anyone been able to get the htc evo view to make calls? with out using google voice?

I'm wondering if maybe the HTC Kernal to the htc view has something to do with it not being able to make calls? maybe we are missing something in the Kernal?

I've read about people flashing the view to boost mobile, but only being able to make calls not receive them. So there must be something in the phone that's blocking it other then sprint. anymore ideas?

I was able to make phone calls without using google voice when I flashed the view over to cricket. I imagine it would be the same deal if it were on sprint. It was just a matter of getting a dialer on it and having it provisioned on an account. If you use launcher pro, you can see the htc dialer, unfortunately as much of a fan as I am of launcher pro, it looks pretty ugly on the view. I could not however receive calls unless I was on the line and someone called while I was on a phone call. Another strange thing is when you use google voice it automatically goes to speaker phone, yet when I used the htc dialer through a cell network, I had to have a blue tooth connected to use it. The pieces for this all seem to be there, just a matter of putting them together.
