Default [Q] ROMS safe to flash on Rogers Motorola Razr?

I've been searching around for the answer to this for a while. Didn't seem to find anything I could fully understand though.

All these different Razr models are a bit confusing to me (Coming from HTC Sensation, you could flash any ROM on any model). What I've picked up from various threads though, is that the Canadian Razr is considered to be like the Verizon one even though it's GSM. So I'm assuming that only the Verizon ROMS are safe to flash on the Rogers model since the European one's won't work?

I apologize for the amateur question, but I really don't want to brick such a nice (and expensive!) phone. Thanks for your help!

hey... the process i used was... root > cwm on boot recovery (some people choose safestrap but i have no idea what that is) > flashing the gsm deoxed version of EU rom...

And then last i flashed Artic 1.5... running fine no problems at all

You may want to wait a little bit - at the moment there's no easy 100% guaranteed rollback.

There will be, likely within the next month or so. Until then it's a risk.

I was looking at the FTS ROM, seems pretty sweet, still in beta and going through the normal growing pains. The very first page of the ROM sends you to a link for the CWM on boot instructions.

I am not 100% familiar with the CWM but it gives you the ability to backup your current config. If you decided to load a ROM using CWM and didn't like it, couldn't you just revert to your backup (provided you made one before installing the new ROM)? If the answer is yes, then the risk is pretty low??

I used something similar on my SE X10 and never had problems, used to backup before trying new ROMs/Mods and it worked just great, even if I had to revert back.

So you've flashed two ROMS with no problems? It's just that the notes on the top of the pages make me nervous to do anything. Something like, "THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED ON EU RAZR, FLASH AT YOUR ON RISK."

I was forced to reinstall Android 2.3.5 after I accidentally uninstalled bloatware that caused my Contacts to crash after opening a contacts user details. Since no Rogers ROMs were available I used one close to it, an en.BR ROM:

Branding: RETAIL en.BR
Market Segment: LATAM
Version: 651.73.250
Android Version: 2.3.5
SLC: 25
ROM Type: CFC
Radio Version: N/A
Bootloader Version: N/A
Webtop version: N/A
Download: FileSonic

Give it a shot! It works great for me, wouldn't consider going back to the Rogers rom even if it was posted here.

Wondering what you used to flash these fastboot files? Rsdlite??
Also I would assume that this new ROM would no have all the Rogers bloatware - are everything working properly (ie. MMS, APN setup... etc.)?

I've tried the new Arctic (v2.0.0) a few days ago.

Root --> CWM --> nandroid backup --> wipe --> install zip from SD

Didn't quite like the custom ROM...
-Missing Facebook integration - got used to friends' facebook picture showing up in contacts
-Missing the favorite contact widget
-One of the motorola process kept on crashing
-can't change docked item

*I'm sure all these can be solved with a new launcher but I didn't want to spend more time digging*

Then I restored from my backup --> now I have the original Rogers ROM running.

So bottom line, it's a pretty safe way of flashing given that you have a backup to restore from.

Now, I'm curious about flashing one of these "retail" stock ROMs. The question is whether to flash it using RSDlite or from CWMrecovery.

cheers!

Can you post the Rogers ROM please?

PS:
I used the latest version of RSD Lite to flash it to the .BR ROM.

The Brazil ROM hasn't got a single carrier-branded element to it, seems like a completely vanilla release. Everything automatically configured to my network (7eleven Speakout)
