still didnt work. am i going through all this trouble to save 100 dollars? wont the glaxy tab or thrive give me access to all my android market stuff? and all my amazon apps?
are those machines inferior to this one? and id have an hdmi port. im wondering if its only the money thats making people go through this nonsense. not being sarcastic. honestly curious to know what to do. thanks

I've done it several times now. Never any issue whatsoever. Not sure how to explain my success or your issues. Works perfectly for me.

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I significantly prefer the form factor of the Nook Tablet. In terms of performance, I can see little difference. I have the Tab overclocked to 1.4 GHZ too.

Not saying the NT is better, but I have both and use the NT a lot more. I wish we could just wipe the B&N OS and make it a real HC or ISC tablet, but I still like it an awful lot.

In my case, this is exactly the case. I got my NT as a gift from others, and could not have afforded to buy one otherwise. Asking them to shell out an extra $100 or more is quite unreasonable, even if it means that the tablet would be so much more friendly.

It's essentially why I made snowball-mod... I don't care about any of the B&N content, because I can't afford any of it. So, away it goes.

One issue I ran into: I formatted my SD card from the NT itself, rather than on my computer. "boot" and "lba" flags were set, and the NT wouldn't run the restore. Unsetting those flags got it to restore.

Also, this isn't factory restoring for me. Restore runs, but it boots back up to exactly as I had my NT before..

Check your version. it will be 1.4.0. if you want wipe, turn off your tab, then press and hold power, wait 3 seconds and press and hold "N". Release power after a second and continue to hold N.

Once I corrected the file name on mine, everything worked like a champ! I even reverted back a second time, on accident, because I forgot to move the file out of the root of my SD-Card!

Version is 9.9.9 (used Indirect's OTA blocking method) still..

EDIT: After wipe, I'm back to 1.4.0. Thanks for the help.

acclaim_update.stockrecovery.zip.................. ..is that right? it still didnt work

See the filename in the post i quoted? That's what you name the file.... just acclaim_update.zip and nothing else.
