a way to fix typing woes?

I find when I'm typing & have to go back to make a correction it can be a major headache. for instance I'll try to select at a specific point & then the selection arrow will pop up in a completely different place(even shifting the screen over).
is there a way to stop it from doing that?

This doesn't happen for me...

Either A, try reinstalling your rom, or B use a different keyboard.

It was happening since the beginning on stock & continues regardless of what ROM I use. It happens on both stock keyboard and on SlideIT keyboard. this is also my replacement Nexus(1st one did it also).
