dang that's the 2nd time I missed that one , now its 44 .
Will you post some speed tests?
Is hard to find test results for that one.

but yeah it would have been nice to get a samsung branded one for $40

Does samsung make their own chips or OEM them ?

They make their own, I would assume. They make flash memory for practically everyone....
