Default [Q] No connection between tablet and PC. At all.

Hi there,
I know it's a pretty common problem, and a pretty frequent question, but my case is a little bit different from what I could find here, let me explain :

I own a TF101 (B70 or 80, so no NVFlash for me), and even though I can recharge its battery through the official cord (plugged into the AC Adapter) - meaning that the cord is working - I can't connect it to my computer.
And here's how my problem seems to be a little bit different from all the posts I've seen out there : It's not that my computer doesn't recognize the tablet, it's that the computer doesn't see it at all. There's no sound when I plug it to my computer, there's no "unrecognized device" pop-up, no "unrecognized device" in device manager either... Nothing. Everything is as if I hadn't plugged anything in.

So, yes I installed Asus whatever on my computer, that software that includes the tab's drivers. I also tried unistalling it and just install the drivers available on Asus website, I tried on my laptop before and after a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 64bits, I also tried on a desktop computer... And I tried disabling/re-enabling USB debugging as I saw on other topics, nothing worked.

It worked before though. Then I installed root, Custom Recovery and the PRIME rom, then I went back to a stock ROM because of that problem, thinking that reverting would solve the problem, which didn't.

So, now I'm on 8.6.5.21WW stock, no root, and still can't connect my TF to my computer, wtf did I do wrong, and what can I do to make it work (knowing that I can't really send it back to Asus) ?

Thank you very much, sorry for wasting your time, and sorry if I didn't express myself properly, English is not my native speech.
Have a good day.

Did you tried to reboot the tab when the cable plugged into your Desktop ?

I yes, shutdown your tab, press power on button and volume up together.
Did you hear a sound from your Desktop ?

I tried rebooting the tab while plugged in, nothing.
I tried Power + Volume up, not a single sound.

So...

1) The USB Ports on your Desktop are disable.

Try a manual new peripherals detection, if not working : Try with another Desktop...

2) Your Asus cable is faulty. I've notice that your Tab charging well with this cable, but that not seems that the cable is not damage for the Data.

Can you try with another cable ?

1) Well that's the thing, I tried on 2 different computers and it doesn't work. I tried on every USB port of both computers (and these USB ports are working, plugging my mouse, usb key and external HDD works)...

As I said, manual detection gives absolutely nothing, the tab isn't even seen by any computer that I've tried on.

2) I don't really get what you're saying, but no, I can't try another cable =/
I really don't want to buy another one if I'm not sure it'll solve the problem... I'm a little short on money x)
And I'm a misanthropist **** that has no friends, no one can lend my one.

It's rather strange...

For the point "2)", explanation :

An USB cable is made with 4 wires.
2 wires for electrical power (+5V and Ground)
2 wires for data (Rx, Tx)

So it's possible that the 2 wire for electrical power are good but the 2 others are damage... It's a possibility.

A question more, did you tried the connector slot on the Tab AND on the Dock, if you have it ?

Yes, I tried plugging it docked. No luck either.

And I get your point regarding the cable. This is indeed a possibility, but is there a way to be sure it's the problem ? As I said, I can't afford buying a new one for nothing. I'm not even sure if I could afford buying a new one even if I was sure it would solve the problem, actually x)

Thanks anyway pal, Belge hein ? Si tu fais un petit tour en France à l'occasion, je te paie une mousse

No way to test the cable with another peripheral. It is proprietary cable.

A suitable solution for you to test it's to go to Fnac, Carrefour, etc or where you bought it and test your cable with another Tab...

Volontiers pour la mousse...

Je vote aussi pour le câble défectueux (tu peux en "racheter" pour 30€ sur le store asus, çà te servira toujours). Et je suis un peu loin pour te préter le mien

Sorry for the french, here's the translation

I also think the cable is defective (you can buy one for 30€ in asus store, which will always be usable). And I'm too far to borrow mine
Feeling happy ? There's a thanks button for that
