[DEVS ONLY]{ThinkTank/DISCUSSION} CM9/ICS on HTC Flyer
hey fellow devs...
i see that this device doent have any true custom ROMs... i appreciate the work and efforts u guys put into the ROMs u made but these are all stock based ROMs... i was wondering if anyone is interested in starting work on AOSP ICS/ CM9/MiUI porting to this device... i am not an expert with ROM related work but want to start learning... and can surely help out in kernel/ramdisk related aspects...
what do u guys think? up for the challenge??
@MODS
this thread is ment to start a development related discussion for custom ROM... and may eventually lead to a custom rom running on this device... if u think this is in wrong section kindly move it to correct section...
@non-developers/new users
kindly do not keep filling this thread up with thank you/request/general posts...
Well I've had my build environment set up and I'm ready to compile a ROM, but I'm kinda confused on what the binaries and proprietary files I need are that some guides have mentioned. I'm going to be looking into it more tomorrow.

check similar MSM8255/MSM7x30 based HTC devices... i think Desire HD or Desire Z might be a good place to start...
i just downloaded one of the ICS roms from DHD... will try to see if i can atleast get it to boot
The last one seems especially developed, but what do I know.
ICS from DHD is by far the best non-cm9 ics rom, hehehe..
Anyway, like doomlord said, best if looked at the boot image, and redirected anything to flyer base. Flyer and Desire HD have a similar hardware, so best probably to ask the dev in DHD development thread such as twistedumbrella, lord clockan, dh.harald, shaky153 or zfreak, or any ics dev that i forgot to mention.
I haven't compiling for a long time, might be dusty.. ;P

i know most of the patches which will be required to get this to work (on the kernel side atleast)...
So I've taken the proprietary files from the DHD used to compile ICS and stuck them in my htc folder. However when I type lunch it doesn't let me choose to compile for it. It's so frustrating !
If your using CyanogenMod building instructions you need to manually pull a manifest I think for HTC devices.
I'm not using CM instructions. I know that there is a script named extract-files.sh, but we don't have one of those for our device. So I'm having to use the ones from the DHD
Those of us who use Linux on a day to day basis don’t think twice about sinking … more
