[Q] Transformer Prime Concerns?
Transformer Prime: Not sure if some of these issues are only isolated to me or everyone experiencing these :
1. I added my gmail and I have about 2k photos on there. When I open Gallery it takes like almost 10 mins to sync. The gallery in general seems to be very slow. Anyone else?
2. At times the screen starts jumping. The only way to fix this is restarting the tablet.
3. The browser is very slow sometimes. Comparing to my phone and computers.it takes almost twice as long.
I have an ipad1 and I'm an android maniac, I really want to love this tablet but every day there seems to be another issue poping up. I'm sure CES will announce some more quadcores soon, I'm in love with android and I like TP but I am starting to reconsider holding on to this since I still have another week to return it. What to do....?
Transitions:
Note ll - S3 - S2
Evo 3D - Evo 4G

Yeah, the Android Gallery is kinda of sucky and slow, but its not a Prime problem since its that way on nearly all Android Devices. I hope ICS improves this.
The stock browser is also a little sluggish, but I heard this is a known problem in Honeycomb. Once again ICS will hopefully be an improvement.
I have not had any screen jumping. There was an issue with the ASUS boot logo jumping around during boot, but the last firmware fixed that. However, doesn't sound like that was the problem you have described.
You may want to contact ASUS on this, or exchange it. It should definitely not have the display going funky.
Other than the screen issue, you might want to hang onto the Prime until ICS goes out. Honeycomb was a half-baked release anyway caused by manufacturers complaining to Google about not having an iPad competitor version of Android.

Do yourself a huge favor and download Opera Mobile browser from the market until Ice Cream Sandwich comes out. It is a million times better than the stock browser!

Search for the browser thread where the OP lists a few tweaks to make to the browser through the debug menu. I swear, it makes it like a completely different browser. It's completely smooth. That thread should really be stickied, if you ask me.

mine does none of that with the exception of the sometimes slow browser but to be honest i think that has more to do with my network and whats getting priory at the time since sometimes it's really fast and other times it's very slow, i downloaded a few torrents directly on to it and all went well and was as fast as expected, also netflix doesn't stumble at all either which makes me think the tablet is good but more of a problem with my bandwidth......800 meg movie file took about 10 mins on my 30/30 home connection with other computers running torrents and streaming netflix on the smart tv, so heavy network usage at the time.
but no shaking of the screen or other issues, and pic gallery's load fine after the initial visit, make sure you have your caching turned on in your browser and that your not downloading 2k thumbnails every time you visit the site, or at the very least i'll just say this sounds like a settings issue as opposed to something wrong with the tablet from the factory, maybe also set it up where it only sync's every so often or something, not sure how your setup works but you shouldn't need to be downloading 2k worth of thumbnails and/or pics everytime you log on to something, play with your settings and see what you can come up with....also snych'ing porn always take x3's as long unless your pretty quick if you know what i mean....lol j/k
that said, this is just my experience in the last 4 days i've had this tablet and spent about 6-8 hours a day on it so far.............feels well built in the hand to me so i don;t expect any defects to start showing up from nowhere that aren't related to software in someway or another.

mine was less smooth to me after the tweaks so i reverted back to default settings and seemed fine again, my understand was the tweaks only helped the responsiveness during the loading of a new page, i could be wrong but that's how i read it, regardless give the new settings a shot , worst case you just revert back like i did.
also play with the synch settings in your gmail account.

those tweaks don't work for everyone. plus it gets reset everytime that browser shuts down. then you have to do that stuff all over again. Opera mobile is your best bet. even with those tweaks, people who tried it said it can't compare to opera mobile. only drawback is flash is sketchy on opera till it gets updated.

Interesting. I'm not sure why they don't work for everyone, but they work great for me. The OP updated his original post after he saw he gave the wrong settings at first, so if you haven't visited that thread in a while, it might be worth checking out again.
Also, my settings do not revert every time the browser is closed. The Debug menu disappears, and I have to type about :debug to access the debug settings again, but when I go in there, my changed settings show up as being saved.
And the settings don't just increase the speed of loading my pages. It makes pinching and zooming, as well as scrolling, much more smooth.
All of this will be moot next week anyway once ICS is rolled out

right, i wish everyone would quit judging this thing till ICS comes out, i get the GPS rants as that won't improve with ICS, but 90% of other complaints should be addressed by ICS, it's just sucks waiting, but doesn't suck as bad as having no TF201 in my hands all together..better to have a prime with gingerbread now and get an update the no prime all together, the only way i'll be disappointed is if CES unvailes another tablet with the same specs but more ram and it ships in the next 2 weeks, lol, don't see that happening, so i'm sticking with mine..

and then wait for something else even better the month after that, and then the month after that.
price/performance (unless GPS w/o wifi is a huge concern for you) there is nothing out there in the near future that will be better than the prime.
the gen1 tablets have shown that asus offers the best bang for the buck.
also, if you want the dock experience, there is nothing that competes. not even the glorious touchpad. :|
