I feel like a complete idiot, but I finally got it unbricked. My problem was that it wasn't fully charged. Apparently once it got to or above 50% charge I was able to unbrick it. Thanks again!

DONATE TO ME
This might sound like a stupid question but I just can't get it to work. How do you use the flash update of this program? I always get the permission denied error.

DONATE TO ME
Default Not Exactly a brick but..

While wiping everything off of my kf so i could sell it, i accidentally wiped the rom off of it along w/ everything on the sd card. so now all i can do is boot into recovery; the simple solution would be to mount usb storage once in twrp, but my computer says device not recognized, it recognizes my brothers kindles but, now i have a device w/no operating system and (as far as i know) no way to put a new one on. Can anyone help me?

also I will get up to waiting for device then I will get stuck.

Any suggestions.
Try to reboot recovery thru adb, if that doest work, unplug your kindle, hold the power button for 20sec so it shuts of, then just repeatedly tap the power button until it goes into twrp and restore a backup

Naww you need a factory cable that`s the only way you will fix a device with that error or firekit with the shorting trick.

It should be noted that the factory cable itself will not fix the problem, as many people mistakenly believe. It will only put the device in fastboot, so the bootmode can be changed to recovery, in order to fix the problem.
Change is free, but not freely given.

Hello,
I'm stuck on the kindle fire logo after using KFU to install permanent root. (never got past boot screen)
I tried this and it won't recognize.
when i plug it in it says "usb not recognized" and it wont let me install the drivers.
it took me a while to get the drivers in the first place (running XP) also I have another kindle fire which IS recognized.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Edit : the answer was right in front of me the whole time. When installing the drivers uncheck the box that only lets you install compatible ones. You can then install composite adb.

You need to manually install the drivers. Depending on where you are in the install process, it might be sort of involved, but then it might just be easy.

Right click "Computer" on your desktop and select "Manage", then on the left there will be a nav tree, click "Device Manager". When that populates, look for "Kindle", or "Amazon", or even "ADB Device" (something along those lines should be there somewhere) with a yellow triangle and right click it then choose "Update Driver". Try to let it do it automatically, but you will probably need to do it manually. If it doesn't work automatically, go back and update drivers again and this time choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", it should pop up a window that gives you the option of "search for the best driver in these locations", try this first but click "Include this location in search" and nav to where your drivers are located (hopefully somewhere easy like your desktop or downloads folder), and then let it try. If that fails go back and choose "Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install" option and then in the list provided find the thing that looks either like a "Kindle" or "Android Device", or "ADB Transport Bridge" or something like that and choose it. This should get you recognized for the tool to works.

Yes, you may need to do this multiple times.
