Cyanogenmod 9 = CyanogenMod 9 is based on Google's Android 4.x Ice Cream Sandwich
Cyanogenmod's roms are based on different android versions, but has many other options. When you flash a cm rom, in your settings menu, you will get a new option called cyanogenmod settings. Flash this rom and check it out

I tried to upgrade from my AOSP Beta10 and everything is still working so far.

However you will lost all the app shortcut and widget in the home screen because CM9 uses another Trebucket Launcher (an enhanced stock Launcher). It cannot use original app shortcut and widget settings from stock Launcher.
