Can't open /cache/recovery/log? Why did you do that? You can move CWM in your external SD card, no need to the location with cache.
If move CWM here, even you flash other zip files this time successfully, however, you still have to move it over and over again if flash is needed.
Taking me as example, location is always fixed in external SD card. After choosing apply update in external storage, I can easily find it out.
Anyhow, this is my experience and let me know if problem is still there.

I had the same problem. I think that the /cache folders or files got corrupted somehow.
What I did is TOUCHED the "factory reset" option. It does not let you scroll down with the vol-up/vol-down so just touch it quickly and let it continue. It will format the /cache folder and from that point on everything should work normally (at least it worked for me; I hope it will fix your issue).
