if your having trouble then your making it way harder than what it is. The SGS2 was harder to root and install a custom rom on it than the Note.. There are already some pre-rooted stock roms in the forums that youi install via Odin...

Hmmm, the problem is that the links are all dead... That's why, especially the repack for ics, i had a hard time searching for it, but my most important one is to be able to root the note first with cwm...

If rooting is what u want, no need to worry

Flashing a kernel to get root is rather... I would say... unorthodox :P See the thread below for a simple (or simple enough) guide on how to root an SGN:
