Default Reboot

I love the kernel, but the other day i was browsing the web and charging the device at the same time. It was running fine but it seemed pretty warm(temp meter read 86.3) then out of no where it freezes and does a reboot. No problems since then.

Default free RAM

Android System Info tells me the GP5.0 has 377MB of RAM available, and about 140MB is free (depending on what apps you have running and what you minfree settings are). I find that when I use the browser, it often freezes for short periods of time - I presume it is the minfree manager freeing RAM because it is running low.

My Galaxy Tab (original 7 incher) has the same chip and same amount of RAM. It has 443MB RAM available and 245MB is free. I more or less have the same apps on both tablets. The GT runs Overcome ROM with its own customized kernel.

I know there are HW and OS differences between both tabs, but I wonder if the GP5.0 kernel may be improved to free up more RAM?

Thanks.

Helllllooo people!
Ok im coming over from the Nook Tablet section of the forums because my friend is interested in running the recently released ICS port. I was sent to this kernel from that thread. My friend is pretty much a noob, but he still wants ICS and seeing that I got cm9 to run on my Nook then "obviously" I could do it to his (US) player 5.0. don't worry I already flamed him intensely for thinking that the processes were the same but i also agreed to help him. So long story short, I need help to install this kernel so I can get the ICS port running. Maybe then he will stop bugging me about it. I've already rooted his player for him and I was wondering if that means I could just boot (from rommanager) into CWM and flash your kernels zip? He can boot into CWM from rommanager but can't back up his stock rom. The only options available are to flash a rom or to reboot (maybe a few of the advanced options, not sure.) Hope you guys can help me out!
Thanks galaxy player users!

DONT use ROM Manager. Flash the .tar file with ODIN then you'll have CWM on your device afterwards put the .zip files on the root of your SD card flash them and then you can download the CM9 ROM flash it and GAPPS before and after flashing the ROM and your set

I'm gonna need some help with Odin tomorrow (can't do any more tonight) because Ive never flashed anything except through CWM. And did you really mean to say to flash gapps before and after the rom flash? I've only ever heard of it done after flashing rom.

Yes. Before you BOOT then you have to reboot BACK into recovery and do re - flash the gapps. And with Odin you power down the device. Press and HOLD the Volume (DOWN) key and plug in the USB cable (while still holding the volume down key) until you see a yellow triangle with an android in it and 'downloading.......' at the bottom. Click PDA>.tar file (that you downloaded) then start. Do NOT unplug your cable UNTIL it has COMPLETELY FINISHED rebooting unless you want to brick your device. Then you can boot into CWM by powering off your device hold the volume up key and power button until you see the Samsung logo then release the power key an continue to hold the volume up key until you see the recovery
Good luck my friend ^_^

I flashed all 3 and make sure you have the drivers installed and that your device has been recognized. It should start then.

Install Samsung kies or at least the Samsung drivers, the reboot and install the tar file through odin. It should succeed and then you can boot onto CWM by turning it off, holding the power and vol up button, and releasing power when the Samsung logo appears. Here you can flash whatever you want
