Restore a different boot.img

Guys,

I noticed that inside the nandroid backup folder there is a "boot.img".
Can I exchange it by another "boot.img" from a kernel from another rom so that when I restore this backup, this different kernel would be flashed? I mean, this would be another way to basically flash a different kernel right?
I didn't do it yet because afaik there is no turning back after messing with the boot.img...

Never mind guys... I found out we get a "checksum mismatch error"... So it doesn't work as I thought...

What should i do ? I downloaded Cowinblack ROM.

A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications.

If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key.
Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel.

Volume up: Continue
Volume down: Cancel (restart phone)

You should boot into recovery mod , Volume up + Home + Power. Not volume down + Home + Power.

I did the volume up + home + power and got into RZR 2.14

now I cant copy any ROM to the internal SD card. how to do it ? sorry guys, i am newbie.

You can try to change usb port and/or disinstall and reinstall phone usb drivers!
For me, on a laptop, this worked.
