Default New Gio user

Hello all Samsung Gio Owners.

I just bought this phone and i really enjoy it, however as a XDA member i am allways looking on how to improve it with tweaks and scripts.

The phone has android 2.2 but i want to install the latest and the best version of android available, here are some questions i have:

1. How to backup everything and to restore it if anything goe wrong, i just bought the phone and i do not want to damage on the first day

2. What is the best version available to download and flash? That has all the functions and can maybe overcloack the phone and make smoother, faster etc.

Thank you in advance!

You can go to 2.3 first using kies, then root your phone, install custom recovery, install custom rom etc..

Cyanogenmod 9 is in progress, but cm7.2 works good 2.
Although this are unofficial ports from great developers to our gio.
Any questionz, just ask

Answering the backup question, you can do a backup from recovery. To go into that, keep home button pressed while you turn your on. Then there is backup and restore, do backup.

After that you can install CWM recovery, which enables you to install custom roms and patches.

Any questions left, don't be afraid to ask. We're here to help each other, specially new guys

Hi I am new here...

So I bought the gio by aldi germany. I like my phone. It´s no rooted, cm7.2 serious V1, a2sd, SlaidFastMOD V2.5 on it and it works.

Unfortunately, I can´t post in the Developer Forums anything, since I'm new here. I'm very sorry about it. I've gained a little experience, so even with my HTC Wildfire ...

sorry for my bad english...

Since it's not complete and stuff not really working on it, installing and using Gyanogenmod is not advised for daily use.

Still, if you can live without camera, fm radio, stable android, and so on, use it.

I think we should wait until it gets fixed at many parts.
