Exclamation Mic not working after unplugging wired handsfree

I have the following problem quite frequently. I would like to know if this is common and if there is a known workaround/solution:

1. Phone works normally
2. Plug in wired hands-free to make a few calls
3. Unplug wired hands-free
4. Mic does not work on subsequent calls (both incoming and outgoing calls)
5. A reboot resolves the issue

I performed the above sequence once before posting and I could not reproduce the problem. So, it seems to be an intermittent one.

I am using the stock hands-free that comes along with the Galaxy R retail box

Thanks

This is a problem on all Galaxy R. The headset jack is faulty. Plug the headset in and out once or twice and that should fix it. Hope it helped.

You mean this is a hardware problem on Galaxy R? Can't this be fixed with some firmware upgrade in future?

Oh yeah, that makes sense, I sometimes have to unplug and replug my headphones to make the play/pause button work. Just takes a bit of getting used to.

From what I had read, it is a hardware problem. But who knows. A majority of problems can be sorted out through software. Lets wait for ICS to make sure.

Buddy the headset jack is NOT faulty.
It is a bug in the GB version.
ICS does not have this problem.
Not sure about the indian ICS.

XWLP2 POLAND rom is one of the finest roms.
Might be its your jack causing the problem then.
Try SSC then :P

Buddy, the user who started this thread, was having the problem with the Device's/Handset's mic and NOT WITH the headset's/hands-free's mic.
So if you have a problem with your headset's mic...there is a good chance that it is a hardware related problem.
Please try another with different headset before going to SSC.

Btw, if you need to buy new headset, I'd recommend Samsung EHS64AVFWE (with 3 buttons & mic).
It comes with Galaxy Note but it works perfectly with our device too I'm using it!
