It is obvious when you can flash a kernel, but you can't flash a ROM, because it can't properly read the NAND, but can flash a kernel. But you ask, why the kernel? Because flashing a kernel is a bit deeper than flashing a ROM. When you flash a kernel, you're changing/putting new instructions to the hardware, and when flashing a ROM, the instructions that are drewn are different and more "simple", so when flashing, ODIN will say "FAIL" instead of "PASS", or suddenly stopping the flash out of nowhere.

OK so managed to stuff the phone - was running CM9 pulled the battery think I corrupted the Nand. Could get into odin but not clockwork. Have managed to flash the full recovery, however before this flashed villianrom 1.1, then new root via odin - CF-root-SGS2_XW_WEU_KE7-v4.0.

This got me back into clockwork recovery and villianrom booted fine - updated into villianrom 3.0 problem is on shutdown get the flashing battery icons. Don't think this is a hardware issue, have now flashed recovery as shown - flashing battery icons have now gone - problem is when shutting the phone down it will always reboot. Still think there is a problem possibly in the kernal but have no kernal to flash

So any idea's phone works 98% there just this last issue, Oh and whenever I tried to get back into CM9 I get a full corruption drops back to nand problem. So whatever has been corrupted. If anyone has the missing link to the kernal of front page I'll owe u a beer - payable when your next in Sydney
HTC TP2 - running
ROM - NRG Energy 218077 - 4/12
Radio - 3.44.25.27

What about rooting? Do you happen to have a CF Root for this firmware?

Anyway, i've just downgraded my phone from ICS to 2.3.5. It was crashing 5 ties a day, especially when i was trying to enter the settings (of the phone and of other installed apps like weather, lawncher etc). I couldn't take it anymore.

Also the packet data internet was not working, even though I have an unlimited plan. Unfortunately this seems to be a problem with 2.3.5 also. I've called the operator to check on the settings and they were ok. Can't understand what's wrong...

Well mine must definitly be broken.
I used the jig to reset the counter en the custom binary text.

Left the battery out for a few days, today started it again and its back to two and and binary says custom....

I'm unable to start the phone, flashing says its succesfull but doesn't seem to do anything ... (installed official ROM and kernel and still says its custom and yellow triangle)

What could be broken ?

Due to the fact the Kernel link is down, I grabbed a CF-root version and tried with that instead.

Obviously i'm able to flash the Kernel - but the moment I try to flash the firmware I receive write failed issues. Is this because of the Kernel or because my phone is in fact beyond repair?

Yeah, the best bet of getting a kernel is by doing a REQ thread... The only way to totally fix it is to flash a kernel, but, yeah

ICS reset the APN list. You have to add the internet and MMS APN manually. I have the root kernel, uploaded here

Because the new bootloader (post-2.3.4) doesn't let you reset the flash count. You have to flash the old bootloader to reset the firmware flash count.

Well, CF Root is kernel isn't quite the stock kernel, because it should be flashed ON TOP the already existing kernel, so the only way to repair that issue is to flash a healthy kernel, which I've been trying to figure out and find a kernel...

Well scrub everything I said because the simple action of trying the exact same method on my laptop, without even using an official cable meant the whole thing worked. I was able to flash a KE7 O2uk version in seconds - after three hours of messing about thinking i'd got broken nand. I now have a cwm backup from January restored and in place.

In this case I would suggest many people either try a different usb port or even a different computer entirely.
