Can you explain why I should change my recovery setup to yours and remove Thor 1.73?

I do like tinkering with my android devices and have enjoyed picked up some tips with fastboot and adb command line tools. Especially thanks to Blackthund3r. The apx flash tool is virtually idiot proof.

Any chance of a APX flash able version of your recovery tool?

Ps: apologies if this not correct place to discuss this.

On one recovery vs the next they all do mostly the same stuff but have different options/features and interfaces. Its a matter of personal preference and looking at the pros/cons of each.

The non zip version will work with apx on the download 6 part of nvflash change the name to my recovery.img's name.

Help! I need a way to install Amon Ra WITHOUT using my external sd card. Is there a way?

I have a a500, but the sd card reader isn't working. The problem is that there's demo firmware on the machine, but I can't flash a workable ROM because the sd card won't mount.

I found this solution: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...thout-sd-card/

But to use it, I need Amon Ra installed, and I can't find a way to do it that doesn't involve the sd card, which is the problem in the first place!

Can anyone help? I really appreciate it.

Search for a thread about installing the new ICS bootloader, it will install the bootloader and a recovery via nvflash; then you can use the recovery + adb to upload the file to the tablet and flash it. (to the virtual sdcard in /data/media) This goes for most of the latest recoveries for the a500.

remember to wipe the demo rom; it probably is what is breaking the sdcard anyway.

ANyway I don't recall installing recovery the first time ever requiring the external SD card.. The only time a recovery install for me happens to use it is when I flash an updater zip that happens to be saved on the external sd.

(Either an apk installs it from its own data or internal sd, or you are at the command line and can install it from wherever you like.. the virtual sdcard or /data/local/tmp being common locations, or have an unlocked bootloader/nvflash and its transferred via USB to the recovery partition on the tab)

Thanks. I was able to work another solution that worked from another thread. SD card is still toast, though. Such is life.
