Post [Tutorial] Battery Calibration And Some Useful Tricks

Hi Guys,

First Of all READ THIS

Still want to calibrate battery........?????????

If YES then I have a manual way to calibrate it.
Whatever ROM and Kernel are you using it doesn't matter.[/B]

CALIBRATION METHOD__1:

First of all Check whether your ROM is odexed* or not.

If not odexed, only then download "odex-edify-X8.zip" from this THREAD
and copy "odex-edify-X8.zip" to your SDCARD

****Now drain your battery to 10% or wait for it till it comes to 10%****

1. Now connect your charger(Must)

2. Reboot X8 into CWM recovery

3. Flash "odex-edify-X8.zip" using "install custom Zip" *****Skip this Step if your Rom is already odexed*****

4. After flashing "odex-edify-X8.zip" wipe delvik cache again from advanced option

5. then Clear battery Stats

6. after that Wipe cache partition only.(do not full wipe)

7. Now Reboot phone.

8. Now let the charger to charge your phone Approx 3 Hrs Even if it shows 100%

Once you have done your battery is calibrated on that ROM.

CALIBRATION METHOD__2:

First of all Check whether your ROM is odexed* or not.

If not odexed, only then download "odex-edify-X8.zip" from this THREAD
and copy "odex-edify-X8.zip" to your SDCARD

****Now charge your battery to 100% ***

1. Let your charger connected to phone(Must)

2. Reboot X8 into CWM recovery

3. Flash "odex-edify-X8.zip" using "install custom Zip" *****Skip this Step if your Rom is already odexed*****

4. wipe delvik cache from advanced option

5. then Clear battery Stats

6. after that Wipe cache partition only.(do not full wipe)

7. Now Reboot phone.

8. Now let the charger to charge your phone Approx 1(one) hour Even if it shows 100%

Once you have done your battery is calibrated on that ROM.

* Odexing the ROM is important so don't skip it. Actually odexing the ROM increases the performance in many ways like quick switching the application and quick bootup etc.. But I checked it 100 times, It also helps in long lasting the battery. That is why I recommend to odex the ROM.

TRICKS:

1. (Must) Open ROOT EXPLORER and goto /system/apps and delete Email.apk
Use Gmail instead of it.

2. (Optional) Delete Timescape & its Extentions if you have it because its services are always running in background even when not in Use and result in battery drain.

3. (Must) Delete DSP manager. When this runs with music then CPU frequency is always 480+ and that result in battery drain. USE apllications with built in equilizer like POWERAMP, Playerpro and ohers(which one you like the most)

4. Don't set the brightness too high. Set it to 40%.

5. Turn off the WI-FI and Bluetooth when not in use

6. Turn off the GPS when not in use.

7. Use airplane Mode when there is no network in any area.

8. Turn off "background data" and "Auto-sync" when not in use.

9. Uncheck Allow mock locations under /settings/Applications/Development.

10. Uncheck Use wireless Networks under /settings/Applications/Location & security settings(When Google MAP not in use)

GDX Users:

1. GDX users, after using phone kindly try to stop the services by using running services under /settings/Applications

2. After stopping these service press menu button and open background cached processes and stop the cached processes except Sony launcher(if you use it).

Running services:

Background cachedprocesses:

I know this IMAGE is from Stornmix ROM but this is same in all CM7 Roms.

3. Use less number of widgets on homescreen.

4. Delete DSP manager.apk and Music.apk (use poweramp or other app that have equilizer)

5. Delete Google Map (better option is to freeze it when you have to use it later)

6. Don't overclock your CPU . I think Overclocking only helps in HD Game otherwise ROM is smooth and fast enough to play many games.

My experience

I tried this on almost All ROMS.

After doing these above things my battery backup is of 1 day & 18 hrs approx) when

1. mobile data is always on,

2. Synchronisation always on,

3. Playing games like Raging Thunder 2 online mode and NFS shift (Daily for 1/2 hour)

4. some calls (40-45 mins total),

5. A lot of Emails (Approx 70 daily)

6. 1 hour with music daily.

And now if you have any query or any question. Ask freely. I will help you .

3. (Must) Delete Walkman app if you are using it. This application when run then CPU usage is always above 480Mhz. Too high CPU result in massive battery drain. Use poweramp or some other apps instead of this.
Remember that Walkman App is MIUI music app and as far as I know none of MIUI apps work for X8 except Music. But it works with bug of high CPU
So, avoid it.

On some CM7 ROMS default Music app does the same so check it through system panel or another process manager app. If you find the same then delete it also.
