You can even change boot animations with root explorer. I'm on 1.5 and I've done both without fastboot.

sent from America....F__k yeah!

No, boot animations are not flashed through recovery. You need to to use use ES File/Root Explorer and replace the Sprint_bootanimation.zip or Sprint_downanimation.zip in the /system/customize/resource and make sure the permissions are set correctly.

this is incorrect, just FYI. You can flash boot and downanimations, no matter where they are stored.

+1

Just a bit of fyi. If your using twrp 2.0 or 2.0.0r... whatever.... I always recommend always flashing it from the root of your sd card. For IE: say you make a folder called boot and downboot and you have them all saved there and your all good. So you have been flashing from there ( this goes w/ any flash)
One day you decide you want to redo your stuff and you figure you would re do your directory and put files in another place and delete the folders that you have previously flashed from. Next time you try to flash any zip you will recieve an error and not be able to flash any zip. This is a bit of advice from previous experience.
But yes you can flash a boot or downboot if it is set up that way, but would recommend always keeping on your root of your sd and then moving it later if need be bc you don't like to have that many files in the main directory.

Hope it helps for those that may not know already.
