Default Recovery "Update File is Backed Up"

Hello all.

Recently I rooted my phone then went back to stock using Odin. Everything works fine, the only thing is when I go into recovery, I am greeted by a message saying "E: update file is backed up: reportedted" and then it says "updating application" and "successfully updated application."

Everything is working fine, I was just wondering if there was a way to get rid of the message.

Thanks all.

It should only do that once. After some resets, it goes back and installs the hidden Sprint apps. Have you tried going back into recovery a 2nd time?

I tried at least 5 cycles of going into recovery then reboot then power off. I flashed using odin to the stock rom again and the same thing is happening. It doesn't hamper usage, it's just slightly annoying.

When you say ODIN to stock rom, what were you using?

It is not from E: drive. E: stands for Error.

I did the EG30 update located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1383678

Full install. Passed fine. Updated to EK02 through OTA.

Exact text:
"E: update file is backed up: Reporteded

#MANUAL MODE#

-- Updating application....
Installing A[ls.
Successfully updated application."

And when I restart it says

"E: File is written. Update success."

I can do everything fine I just get the same thing when I go back into recovery.

Also, is it normal to check for firmware every single restart? (edit- the firmware updates only occur when i restart from recovery)

Thanks for the help.

Thinking back, I think it has always done what you describe when booting into stock recovery. The firmware update check should only happen once after booting from stock recovery. Subsequent reboots shouldn't check for firmware.

If it isn't impeding operations, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you install CWM you won't see those messages.

DONATE TO ME
I am currently having this problem too. I would currently like to stay on a stock rooted ROM, but this problem is kind of annoying. Is CWM definitely the fix for this? Also, which version of CWM should I use at this point if I am going to be on FF18 (I have already used chris41g's EMMC fix).
