Default Goodbye galaxy R, welcome galaxy S advance.

Check this out now.

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gti9...-news-3737.php

I really dont understand if there is some internal conflict within samsung as to what devices they would launch? WTF is the point of this phone??

It's only going to cause more competition between samsung's own devices, if they think superamoled is so important they shouldnt have released the galaxy R in the first place.

Now because of the "galaxy S" name it's probably going to sell alot more than galaxy R and will end being a better phone I think.

And I actually love superamoled even the pentile one but I still think the timing of this phone is just wrong, they should have instead marketed the galaxy R which has perfect hardware with beautiful LCD and only needs more dev support to be a better phone.

Its closer to S plus than to the R, only four inch and prob not having one gig of ram so this is NOT an R2 imo, R is a royal class and the next R Should b an r2 not an S, s class.

Anyway this would make angry to the s users if they updTe to ics and not their s,

It has mali-400 MP GPU, I really really doubt it will have 512MB RAM.

The screen might be a bit smaller but it's superamoled.

This phone is on a completely different level than the original galaxy S and S plus.

I am absolutely not saying this is a much better phone than the R, it's about on the same level so I am not saying it's R2. What I am saying is that it's going to further cannibalize the already average sales of the galaxy R.

Anyone with the budget of this range will definitely go for the Galaxy R. It's meaner and sexier.
Moreover, by the time this device hits a price drop, gets into the hands of many and finds a home in xda, our device will be well off. We'll have plenty of Dev support. People will still want a Galaxy R.

People who knew about phones never bought Galaxy S plus. This device probably just brings in more fragmentation. The Galaxy S is still a good device. You'll never have shortage of dev support or desserts from android as long as you are in xda.

And talking about our device, there's nothing to worry about until a few months passes after the release of Samsung Galaxy S III. Untill then we are boasting around one of the most powerful devices. (Ours' is not the most powerful phone but comparable to the top of the range devices. Benchmarks may speak differently, but for all practical purposes, the performance is more or less the same)

Our device is moderately future proof too. But once the Cortex A-15 based chipsets make their way into smartphones, the scene will differ.
The Exynos 5250 (32nm architecture with Mali-T604) and other chipsets sporting PowerVR Series6 GPU has multiple times the power of current gen chips.(2x processing power and 5x graphics processing power and much better power efficiency).
But these wont bother us probably until 2013. All you Galaxy R owners, you have made one if the best choices as of now in deciding to choose this phone.

dh33r4j +1

Gambler_3 I do really doubt it about 512RAM , if samsung denied ICS to S1 with 512 they need a need argument in terms of ram, could be 768mb or i dont know maybe 1GB in this case S advance would be closer to R, but also to the flagship S2... i dont see that happening.... What would be the point having S2 1gb ram dual core and a S1 adv with 1gb ram dual core? ...

S advance is much better than S plus but still worse than R, the amoled screen is not better than our SLCD they are diferent, ask S2 owners about greenish screens (very common in S2) and Tegra2 is inside in a big variety of devices like LG, tablets... so I think like dh33r4j , our chip is more future proof in terms of supporting games of course all this is only my hummble opinion and I can be so wrong.

BTW, the tiers of samsung are, Y, M , W, R and S. so i expect they follow that scale and the next R , is the R2 something like i-9xx3 , in other words a S3 downgraded like R is for the S2 and de SCL (is for S)

It's samsung, many things they do dont make sense.

I prefer superamoled but ya the display of R is also very good. I also prefer 4" over 4.2" as I find the S2 and galaxy R to be a bit too big so thats another possible reason for this phone to provide a more portable dual core phone.

I was thinking of getting the R, I am not quite sure now.

What's the alternative? Motorola and HTC with locked bootloaders? Trust me HTC technical support is much worse than Sammy's. They can really act ridiculous sometimes.
Actually....I'm pretty much satisfied with Samsung both with HW and SF. (HTC devices are not that reliable as sammies in terms of both FW and HW nowadays) The only thing tat pisses me off is marketing (lack of support for some devices...ours ?) and the update policy. While in Southeast Asia people has been enjoying android 2.3.6 since november...we still "enjoy" android 2.3.4 in Sweden..WTF?
