Default Windows 8 RC1 for ARM Devices released.

Just got word of windows 8 with support for arm processors was released. Looking forward to see if anyone can port it to our lovely touchpads.

I am probably going to catch Hell for this from at least a handful of people, but I need to point this out:

Any sort of port of Windows, in any form, to the TouchPad without the developer first receiving permission from Microsoft (which you won't get) and the user of said port purchasing a license from Microsoft is illegal. I vote to have this thread and any more like it that appear pulled.
Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX

Motorola Atrix 4G
Ice Cream Sandwich KANG Beta, Heavily Modified

HP TouchPad 32GB

I was actually unaware of this fact. I apologize for creating this thread then. And please pull it if necessary.

It should be fine and dandy if we use the development builds, but not the full releases. Development builds are used for development, which is generally what happens here. Once the full licensed versions come out, we cannot use those without the consent of Microsoft.

exactly. Ive been running windows 8 dev preview on my desktop for months now, and I didnt pay a dime. They install a kill switch on them, so whatever development we make may be short lived, because i dont see Microsoft selling a ARM version to the general public. I think that they will only make it available to OEM's in the long run.
Phones:
  • Motorola Q, Motorola Q9C, Samsung Omnia, Motorola Droid,
  • HTC Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt, Droid RAZR, Toro, Maguro, HTC One

DONATE TO ME
Well a dev could always release some sort of tool or method to turn a Windows 8 iso into a ROM, without actually having to release a full version of windows. We could all use our own legal copies then to make our own ROM.

So its basically the same situation as Windows Mobile ROMs back in the day. It was a grey area and since you couldn't buy a Windows Mobile upgrade ROM, cooked ROMs were the only option. I haven't heard of Microsoft taking any action against all of the WM roms that were posted over the years.
Motorola Droid 3
Android 2.3.4 (Stock Rooted)
CM10 (Kexec)

HP Touchpad
UnOfficial CM10 4.1.2

The difference is that those WM devices had licenses for at least some version of WM, making it a gray area. The Touch pad has nothing of the sort. There is no gray ara for it. None the less, I am curious to see where development goes with this.
