Default Screen a lot darker after upgrading to KJ1

Hi guys,

I recently got an insurance replacement for my GSII and it had quite an old software on it (KE2 I think).

So I plugged into Kies and it upgraded into the latest KJ1 successfully.

What I've noticed is that the screen is a lot darker - even in automatic brightness, it's very dim and dark.

Is this suppose to be like this?

I have healthy battery life (i.e. not low or anything), and with Automatic brightness enabled, it's just too dark! Never used to be like this with all other Roms I've used including 4.0.3!

Thanks

No it is not suppose to be like that. Sometimes when they send you a replacement they send you a refurbished one. What i mean by that is they send you another phone that was send back by another user during the 7day period that they allowed to use a phone.

That could be one of the reasons and you was unlucky to receive that one. My best bet what i would of done in your shoes call your insurance company back and explain the situation and ask them to receive another one as a replacement as clearly there is something wrong with it. Might be wrong but i am such a neat freak i like my phones to be perfect. Let me know how you get on

I can confirm that it is a refurbished unit. No original box and non-original charger.

Sealed though... with screen seals and the back had the plastic pieces on.

However, I really think it's the ROM - when it was on the old ROM, the screen looked normal. Also I've just compared it to my friend's SGSII and think it's fine.. so maybe just my silly eyes?

Go into settings - display - brightness and then adjust it to what you find suitable. Then scroll further down and untick the auto adjust screen power. See if it makes any difference. And depends what kernel you flash has a big difference to the color screens but still try what i just wrote and it should be better
