I was which I forgot it needed to be in CWM. Curious why does it matter which recovery you use?

Here's the post just so people don't got to look for it.
No idea, above my head. But I was hoping that steady's new fb21 rev2 solved it but I think that was strictly kernel changes, not recovery.

the method in post#2526 works also. My method is probably safer but I did it both ways with no issues just to help people out.

I just upgraded from Alpha 3.1+ACS FB21 to Alpha 4 while keeping my data intact. Here's how:
  1. Boot to ACS Recovery
  2. Flash CM7 zip
  3. Immediately boot back into recovery (adb reboot recovery, or Advanced > Reboot Recovery)
  4. Now in pure CWM, flash the new CM9
  5. Wipe cache
  6. Reboot

so what recovery should I use with Alpha 4?.. Just flash via rom manager for now or what? TIA

Miui or cm7 recovery should work. (flash one of the two, then follow the cm9 instructions.)
