[Q]USB Port not working

So I'll put it straight, I've let my Galaxy Gio fall in a bowl of milk and the USB port has stopped working ever since (connecting the mobile to windows gives the "Unknown Device" error) is there any way to fix this without sending it in for repairs? Cleaning the connector or something of the sort?

Yeah I know this is a dumb way of breaking a phone I just wondered if anyone had any experience with something similar and we can always hope... :P
