Question [Q] Phone displays UTC time instead of CST

My wife's Infuse was running Serendipity VII, but she started having some problems so I re-flashed it with Zeus (just wiped cache, not user data). The Serendipity problems were resolved, but there were other problems. I wiped the cache AND did a factory reset/wipe user data and re-flashed Zeus. The same problems persisted.

So, I wiped the cache and user data again and went back to stock UCKD5 using Odin. Not the "GTG Ultimate Unbrick" package, but the "Stock Root Mod3e UCKD5 Odin."

Everything is running fine on her phone now except for one thing... the time on the phone is set to UTC. We live in the Central time zone which would be (UTC -6:00) and the clock is exactly 6 hours again. I can uncheck the option to update the time from the carrier and manually set it, so that's a workaround. But I want it working correctly.

I have enabled GPS and location tracking. I've rebooted (several times). I've pulled the battery for about 10 minutes. I've given it about 3 days now to try to work itself out. Google Maps shows our correct location. Even with Automatic time enabled, it shows we are in Central Standard Time.

What gives? And how do I fix it?

Try flashing a different modem. Some of the modems from Samsung's leaks have had issues with showing the correct time. Or else you could download an app from the market called clocksync which will sync your phone to the correct time zone

flash the UCKL2 modem..or alternatively any modem on this page with an asterisk by it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1342978

though..the UCKL2 modem seems to work nicely.

the stock modem (and a few other ones) don't automatically set the right time. just a bug in them.

It's not a modem problem. GTG's Unbrick restores your phone to stock including a modem that doesn't have the problem originally. It doesn't erase your internal sd storage.

I had the same problem and the only fix was to do a factory reset from within Android (erases your internal sd storage).

You can try just deleting all the directories created by the OS or formatting the internal storage from CWM, but from personal experience a factory reset from Settings/Privacy worked for me.

Actually, it was a modem issue. Flashing UCKL2 fixed the time problem. But that eventually lead to other problems sending long text messages. Read my continuing adventures here, or, long story short, I went back to stock with "Ultimate Unbrick," then from there reflashed Zeus, then flashed UCKI3 modem. I wiped all cache, did factory reset, AND formatted internal SD card between each step. All is well, now.
