Default [Q] how to fix nonfunctional volume buttons [solved, hardware issue]

I got my Nook Tablet recently.
Rooted it and blocked the OTA using [Blocks OTA's!] Full root for Nook Tablet. [11/20/11] [Permanent root!]
Installed CWM using the SDCard method [HOW-TO] Install CWM [VERIFIED][Update 1/22/2012

I played around for a while, and now just the other day suddenly my volume buttons have stopped working after more than a week of success and joy.
I also found that if I restart into CWM I can't use the volume buttons to navigate the menus either.

I have tried re-running the Nook&Zergy script, the hard-reset using the acclaim_update zip, and the 8 failed boot reset with no luck. Does the fact that the buttons don't work in CWM mean that this is an actual hardware issue? What should I try next?

If they did work in CWM but don't now it does sound hardware related... I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure

I was hoping that wasn't the case.
I've fully unrooted and flashed back to the stock recovery at this point.

Last resource is an app called app ButtonRemapper posted in android development section here in XDA google it. It is not available in market though. Hopefully that bring your volume buttons back to life. Download the v0_2.4.1.apk attached to the OP.

ButtonRemapper didn't do the trick either. Given what I've read and what I've tried I'm going to decide that it is an actual hardware failure. Good thing the RMA process is pretty easy.
