For whatever reason the xda won't let me upload a pic but I'm trying to change the background where the notification shows up when you pull down the status bar

Ciscogee, correct me if I'm wrong, but doing you have to decompile to alter .9's? Also, of you are doing a port, you need to make sure its a rom with the same resolution.

yes, decompile is needed to alter .9s (if altering)

and

if porting should be same resolution (hdpi)

notification pulldown backgrounds need to be changed in twframework-res also

OK I didn't know about the twframework, thought that was just for twlauncher..OK apktool is for decompiling, correct? Well I can't get it to work on my computer, I can't get apk manager either. Is there any other way I can decompile with running those programs or having adb set up...I got slow internet and dont have the patience to download all the needed things lol

but,
just swap imgs like before just in twframework-res

what apk are you porting from? a systemui.apk?

give us files and folder names etc...

Ha! Changed the pngs in twframework thru 7zip and it changed the background! The background doesn't look like how I wanted but it changed it! I'm gonna play around with it more till I can get it dialed in

When editing pngs in framework-Res.apk and twframework.apk, does it matter if the images are the same size or just if they have the same file name?

Yes. Same file name, definitely. That is what the xml file uses to figure out what image to show. When you say same size, if you mean same dpi, then yes.
