The Note is Samsungs current flagship device.
there's been some bad press about the ICS leaks for the SGSII
Samsung don't want bad press associated with the Note name as its being launched (stupidly imo) with the same branding in the US.
I very much doubt that Samsung care at all about the so called "bad press" surrounding ICS leaks.

Only the select few nerdy/geeky/power users know anything about that.

Samsung care about the mass market not the bleeding edge device hackers.

It'll be more about the fact that they have focused dev on the model that had greatest market penetration (and is still selling very well) and also happens to be very similar in spec to the G note, and once that is settled and the G note has had it's big market release in the US they can justify the resource diversion to the niche product the G note.

The G note isn't their flagship the nexus is. However the G note is a market leader for them in several areas, so it won't be ignored.

and here i thought that the galaxy SII is the flagship for samsung.

It is clearly evident, based on the amount of advertisments, as well as the zeal and drive, that the SII is what the company is pushing towards the consumer market.

The note is aimed towards a niche market. It is not for everyone.
The nexus is for early adopters. Still not for everyone.

I was wondering, with ICS installed, would the galaxy note download tablet or phone-specific versions of apps from the market?

I doubt you'll be able to install or run tablet apps on the note, however...that would be really cool

The Note's been marketed with a huge ad campaign in India. There's far more noise here about it than there ever was for the S2.

It's big. It's beautiful. It's mine.

Yeah, I'm seeing a fair amount more Note ads than sgs2 here in Switzerland... But then I tend to notice things more when I have them, if that makes any sense...
