after flashing recovery, try clearing cache and devlik while in CWM, then reboot.
Hey Albert....
Any ideas about my case? Your recovery went well, no errors or anything. But, without a bootable SDCard in the slot, my NT8 will just never boot up.
I have tried Megh's unbrick and it will not clear it either. All bootable SDCards will boot fine. As will the CM7aFinal SD card. But ANYTHING with internal just displays a black screen (appears to be in SOD at times). I hold the power for 30 secs to assure that it is turned off. Then, no combination of buttons or power connecters will boot the device.
redid the recovery again and it went through the process and finished successfully.. wiped cache and dalvik... but still hanging at the n screen when i restart device. will not go past that screen. just like raywaldo i can boot things from sd card. hmmm... confused... running 8gb nt. i just want my stock rooted back ha.

Did you make a backup of your system before flash Albert's cwm backup?
He mentioned and is kind of a rule you always backup your working system before try any rom. Rule of gold.
PS: if you want to start from scratch then go here and click on the link of ATTENTION 8G NT USERS
that will let you flash stock 1.4.2 and root with jichuan89 or Alberts root, what has worked for you before.

no i didnt because before a couple of days ago i couldn't get into cwm at all, even sd version. for some reason it never worked even though i could boot everything else(cm7 and mehgr00ts cyanoboot recovery) from sd. and by the time i could get into cwm my 8gb nt was already borked. so grrrrrrrr. hahaha. just trying to get my nook back to stock with root.

oh ok well in the link i gave you you can find @meghd00t's new cwm recovery that you can boot from sdcard alone and i have dropped instructions in the .zip on how to flash it to sdcard too so check that out and try to restore your system to out-of-the-box.

Hi, I have a 8gb that is stuck in boot loop. I don't have a backup because i wasnt trying to do anything with a ROM when it screwed up. I don't remember exactly what i did but i switched from CWM recovery back to stock and then rebooted and got stuck at the n screen. Then i tried to recover using the instructions on this unbrick post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1562130 ) and now have a boot loop.
So i used your instructions to make a CWM SD which is working.
I put the 8gb recovery zip that you have and a stock recovery zip on a different sd card
I run the CWM card
Swap the cards (can I do that?)
Pick install from sd
Both of the zips start and then are quickly aborted.
Is this not working because i have to switch the cards?
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
this is a recovery rom, you must unpack the clockwork mod folder to your sd card. so when you swap them, you should go to restore and restore an image from the sd. See the video on how i demonstrate this in the first post. Even though I dont swap cards, the concept is the same. So you have to download the zip, unzip it, copy clockwork mod folder to sd card and that is your restore image. use one sd to boot to CWM, then swap immediately, then chose restore and then restore this image.

Duh I'm an idiot thanks. I saw a zip file so i just assumed install zip from sd for some reason.
So i was watching the video while i fixed this and now have a new question.
<edit> the first time i did the recovery the ROM didn't look like yours, it had superuser and market but nothing else. I rebricked my NT redid the recovery and now i have the same as you have in the video. Not sure what I did there.
<edit edit> i edited while you were responding, sorry
i would do it with your own copy of recovery. put in bootable cwm sd card, boot, then put in another card, make backup, then flash cm7, brick, then flash back your own recovery. The one I posted is more of a last resort for those who forgot to make a recovery. The reason i say this is because there may be serial code issues with your nook if you restore with this recovery. The only thing it would affect is possible an error with barnes and noble when they try to trouble shoot your device from support. Otherwise they cant tell a difference. Basically anyone who flashes my recovery will have a software serial code like my tablet. I have heard there are ways to change the serial code back, but if you factory restore to stock from the device and you have never changed the internal recovery, it will flash back your devices original serial code and there wont be any evidence. Those that have 8gb nook tablets and use the recovery flasher app to flash cwm internally are up the creak though. They are stuck with my serial numbers in the software.... i think some of this stuff is still beyond my level.
