FAQ

Quote:
Q: Will you be continuing work on this beyond this (hopefully successful) attempt...and can we expect MIUI4 weekly? *5.19.12
A: Yes, I've become quite the fan of MIUI 4 since I began porting it! Even when I get a new phone, I will still keep my inc2 to port miui (might need help with logcats and such though for data).

Q: Why doesn't (insert issue) work?!?!?!?!
A: Well it could be 1) my fault as I haven't gotten it working yet 2) an issue introduced by a particular weekly build of MIUI 3) it doesnt work in vivow aosp ics yet

Q: How can I help out?
A: Short of taking over for me, testing and bugreporting is the biggest help you can give ....however anyone interested in contributing or working with me on it and has experience with making roms and smali editing, lmk.

Q: How do I activate wake on volume keys? *2.21.12
A: settings->hardware keys->Volume Rocker Wake
(thanks shredder47)

Q: How do I enable long-press to kill app? *3.1612
A: settings->"p" button -> long-press back button to kill apps

Q: How do I switch to the new phone answer UI in 2.2.24?
A: dialer->settings->answer gesture->horizontal sliding

Q: I cant download apps over 1mb from the play store, whats up?
A: tools folder->downloads->menu->settings->uncheck size limit

*5.13.12
  • still based on aero's 4-20 cm9 (will rebase next weeks 2.5.18)
  • p button in settings still force closes because im using 2.3.30 settings apk still...this is due to unfixable settings errors with current settings, that are due (imo) to incompatibilities with the 4-20 base...just dont have the time to test that theory til next week though
  • centered clock
  • 4-1 reboot
  • modded miui launcher (lithium76)
  • updated tibu, goo manager

  • updated tibu
  • centered clock in status bar (me)
  • added phasebeam lwp
  • still (sigh) based on aero's 3-30 cm9 build...hopefully ill have better luck with his future builds
  • no modded miuihome (launcher) in this build (lithium76 hadnt posted his n1 build with it by the time i uploaded)...will add a patch for it monday or something
*4.24.12
  • updated to miui.us weekly 2.4.20 build from crespo (ns)
  • miui ics is now 4.0.4
  • still based on aerovan's unofficial cm9 3-30 (4-17 and 4-20 caused too many issues as a base)
  • modded customizable miui home (lithium76)
  • 4-1 reboot added (lithium76)
  • centered clock (me)
  • legacy usb connection added as usual (me, og code from lennox)

  • usb storage dialogue no longer freezes on connection
  • added phasebeam lwp, updated tibu and goo manager
  • Superuser no longer included...built in MIUI security app now controls root permissions properly (or does for me, lmk if its borked with some apps)
Bugs
  • some graphical glitches in apps/games (not nearly as bad as 2.3.23, but there nonetheless)
*4.3.12
  • miui.us 2.3.30 weekly build
  • updated various market apps (tibu, maps, google voice)
  • centered status bar clock
  • updated goo download manager
  • using aerovan's 3-30 cm9 unofficial base
  • crazy graphical glitches seem to be gone from 2.3.23
  • voice search works! or seems to for me in limited testing :)
  • 4-1 reboot is back (lithium76 fixed it)
  • camera preview is better (aerovan)
  • added several stock ics wallpapers and miui.us wallpapers from the 2/12 logo contest
  • added phasebeam, microbes, magic smoke, and holo spiral lwp's (yeah kind of overkill but i like them)
  • mix 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 as cm9 base is 4, miui is still building 3 for the moment
  • to be able to download files over 1mb you have to manually go into tools (folder on one of the homescreens) -> downloads -> menu -> settings -> uncheck "data download prompt"
  • Full 2.3.30 changelog for miui4 (remmber not all may apply to us)
issues:
  • when plugging in usb cord screen freezes when bringing up connection menu...need to turn screen on/off to fix (dont know why its doing that, something must have changed in mounting or ids that i cant find)
*3.27.12
  • 2.3.23 weekly miui.us rom
  • updated goo manager, supersu, google voice, maps, su binary
  • yes miui decided to add multiple data icons to cdma status bar...and since we're a cdma rom...yeah...if many hate it, im pretty sure i can revert it
  • centered clock
  • please do not use this rom as a base for your port w/o lithium76's and my permission (it wont work anymore for if you try to port...it will just bootloop)
  • fixed torch (issue in miuisystemui)
  • setting "none" as ringtone/notification no longer fc's
  • added youtube (since it mostly works now)
  • there were major changes in miui this week:
    • settings has been redone
    • huge framework changes that make porting easier for cdma phones
    • data wipe required
NEGATIVES
  • there are graphical glitches in popups and other areas...i dont know at this time if it is due to the massive changes in the miui framework and its stuff they are working out, or i edited something wrong...i dont plan on investigating it much this week just cuz im curious if it fixes on its own or if i need to do some work on it :o
*3.21.12
  • 2.3.16 R2
  • fix issue with naming of file being .zip.zip (prevented flashing in some recoveries
  • Super Superuser added back in for root access (sorry for leaving it out!) and updated su binary
  • updated tibu and goo-inside me app
  • if you already downloaded superuser and updated apps and rom flashed fine...no need to flash R2
*3.20.12
  • MIUI weekly 2.3.16 weekly rom
  • modded MiuiHome (launcher) by leechmiui and 0xD34D: customizable # of roms/columns on homescreens
  • centered clock in status bar
  • setupwizard no longer launches by default
*3.15.12
  • updated to aerovan's 3-13 cm9 base
  • market downloads seem to work w/o terminal fix (for me at least)
  • 2.3.9 Miui.us supported rom
  • modded MiuiHome (launcher) by leechmiui and 0xD34D: customizable # of roms/columns on homescreens
  • NO 4-1 reboot (android.policy was an issue i was having all week so I couldnt use it from miui.us and miui-au didnt add it this week...will try and patch if i get time today)
  • did not include control app to move status bar layout as it hasnt been updated since 2.2.24 and i dont like using old apks/jars
*3.5.12
  • added Goo-Inside.Me app (hopefully future updates will be available OTA using it, assuming I don't screw it up)
  • using 2.2.24 MiuiSystemUI.apk, Settings.apk and Miui-AU Control.apk due to numerous issues I was encountering with the 2.3.2 versions...if I am able to fix I will release later this week
  • due to using these apks, configuring notifications is not available from 2.3.2 changelog
  • some misc changes here and there
Pre 2.3.2 R1 See Here
I like MIUI-Au's guidelines, so I'm going to repost them

Bug-Reporting Guidelines

Quote:
Consider the following “Big Five” statements:
  • I have been able to Reproduce this bug.
  • I have attempted a Full Wipe and Re-Flash.
  • I have checked and can confirm that this bug has not already been reported.
  • I have read the ENTIRE post and followed it’s instructions TO-THE-’T‘ (and still experience this bug....and IT IS NOT A NOTED BUG IN THE OP!!!!!!!!).
  • I have NOT restored anything from a GingerBread Backup.
  • DO NOT post a bug-report if any of them are FALSE.

When posting a bug-report, format is at follows:
1. (One sentence description of bug).
2. Affirm that the “Big Five” statements are true.
3. Instructions for reproducing the bug.
4. a LOGCAT output for the FATAL EXCEPTION (if the bug is an app crash or reboot), or ‘df’ output (if the bug relates to low free storage space). To get the output, run “adb logcat > pathtotextfile” or “adb shell df > pathtotextfile” as appropriate.
5. Any other useful information.
Bug reports which do not follow the above procedure do not help me or the Incredible 2 community at all! (ok I changed that a bit)
6. Please see a sample bug report (not real)

Quote:
Issue: Music force closes when skipping tracks
Wiped data and reflashed: yes
Can be reproduced: yes
Logcat: (dropbox or whatever link to .txt file containing logcat) [please verify that in the logcat the actual error/force close is contained]

Donations are ALWAYS appreciated, but NEVER expected! (I do put them to good use in saving for new devices though and quasi justifying to my wife the time i spend on this stuff lol) I like what I do, and just hitting thanks makes me feel its worth continuing

FIRST! I mean, kool bro. Downloading soon.

Is there a recommended logcat app? I don't have a computer right now, so an app is what I'd need.

Awesome thanks. Hopefully you can get that from someone who can get that to you if it's needed.
