Default power button not working

I have a problem with the power button on my desire, the phone wont switch on.
I have taken the phone apart but cant see any physical problem.
The phone still charges ok.
Is there anyway to get a stock phone powered on without the power button.
Does it sound like it might be a faulty flexi cable.
Or any other advise.

you might need to take phone to repair center sounds like something a phone repair ceter can fix , i dont think there is a way of turning on the device with any other button ( i think it's possible if you changed it if you rooted but in your case i dont think so) does the cable near the power button look burnt out or loose , did you drop your phone ?
btw what are your usage patterns ?

The power button is hardwired. You can change the function of hardwired buttons using software, but software needs to be running/on to do that. You cannot use software to redirect the function of a hardware button with the software not running/off.
