You guys might wanna contact xboxfanj from the Samsung Epic 4G section. He has done plenty of our Ports. He originally started doing them blindly, and now we have almost fully working MIUI, and half-working Sense UI and Blur UI.

DONATE TO ME
The specs are not relevant. Unfortunately, therellbe stuff you will need to change from one device to another unless you merge the kernels, which is very hard. For example, the epic cannot run nexus s 4g roms without modification. They are nearly the same hardware, but there are enough hardware differences for this to be likely.

Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA
Developer for the Epic 4G and other devices.

My work includes Sense for the Epic (and other devices as part of the Sense4All team), MIUI for the Epic, and the Nexus S 4G modem patch for the Epic.

If you need help with anything or just wanna chat, feel free to GTalk me at xboxlover360@gmail.com or PM me

Development in Progress:

Unless your fluent in proprietary driver specifications, hacks, and reverse engineering byte code/assembly I wouldn't see it happening during our lifetimes.

Everybody here is going to sound like they actually know what they are talking about but very few have a clue. They just mess around with config files and Photoshop. If they know what heapspraying, buffer overflows, executing arbitrary code is, keep them around. Another thing is kids love to say they are hackers and know what those things are. Unless they have rep (belong to a hacking team) blow them off and stay dedicated to hacking drivers. 99.9% other "hackers" are just a distraction. I can't tell you how many of those kinds of losers infest Colleges and Highschools alike.

PROTIP: Back when these forums were in their infancy a guy named whose name was 'blu' something mentioned that all android devices include a "breaboard mode" where once can test the I/O. I would start there. Also, search RevNIC see if its a dead-end or not. Could save you a few years if you plan on going forward with this or not.

TL;DR
read up about reverse engineering proprietary drivers.
Reverse Engineer Sidekick 4G. Re-release with open-source drivers.
PROFIT???
