This is just a device and OS version workaround, not root.

Have tried it on stock Galaxy Note and Asus Transformer

Works on Note, on Transformer get known error when going to watch any channel

Currently on holidays in Bulgaria so had to create VPN to office and then it worked :)

Interesting, maybe there is some kind of manufacturer check. Both unrooted I guess?

I am on Crkiskelo v38 and i just get the loading screen (Sky News works ok).

Just wondered if a dev out there is able to compile an apk that will work on rooted ROM's, Sky look like they have locked this down to non-rooted roms.

It's hopeful. We're trying!

or is there anything I can do to get this working..?

My SGS2 build is -
Kernel - Siyah 2.6.12
Baseband Ver - XXKL1
Android Ver - 2.3.6
ROM CriskeloROM Gingerbread v38

(Seriously hoping someone will sort an apk out that works, Sky are obviously not going to do this...)

There is another Manufacturer check that we thought was superfluous ... Just trying to get my server to recompile the .apk.

Bypassing the other device and manufacturer checks.

so it looks like SG & SG2 will both work with custom roms but a stock Kernal and hide root.

So now i need to confirm if any one has it working on a HTC device., I presume it should be the same but cannot check HTC as i do not have one but will have a loan of one in a couple of hrs
But im sure someone will have it going by then

Good work guy,s and SCREW YOU SKY

My experience with the official app:

Changed ROM from Runnymede AIO V6.5 to Froyo 2.2 Stock with root

HTC Desire
Android v2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c htc-kernel@and18-2 # 1 (Stock rooted)
Build 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys

Hboot Stock - Alpharev S-Off
CWM 5.8.0.2

Default install - Sky News only (as expected)
Rootkeeper OTA - Root Hidden then checked with Root Check confirmed as not root
Default app still only streams Sky News

Thanks to those DEVS with the knowledge and time to work on this - it is appreciated.

Just to back that up. Using a rooted SGS2, flashed a stock kernel and used Rootkeeper OTA to "remove" root and sports channels work perfectly.

Thanks to everyone for all of your help, it is very much appreciated!
