Default [DUMP] OTA Update.zip A310_02_0039_0086_US

Over the weekend I got prompted to install an OTA update on my rooted Thinkpad Tablet. I have not yet installed it for fear of losing root (it mentions that it will factory reset the device in the process). I'm posting it here for any Devs that want to have a crack at it. It looks like it includes new Battery Firmware as well as "recovery-from-boot" and "install-recovery.sh" files.

I manually applied the build.prop.p file on my desktop and am attaching the new build.prop generated by this update. It looks like it is an update to ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0086_US. (Android 3.1)

I should point out that this is a US, 16GB, Wifi-only model.

Graphic describing the changes in this OTA:

This for bringing this up - I got the same update notification as you, and also like you, didnt update to ensure my root remains intact.

Last thing I want is to lose my titanium backup again.

You can restore root after the update provided you used the ota rootkeeper app to backup your su file first. The update doesn't do a factory reset - nothing personal was changed all. After the update (three minute process) you go to the android market and install superuser app. Open that app, then go to the ota rootkeeper and restore the root.

I didn't open superuser app the first time, so I couldn't restore the root. After I realized my mistake the ota rootkeeper worked perfectly.

I had all the lenovo bloatware frozen with titanium backup when I installed the update, but that didn't affect the process at all.

My OP was more to provide the OTA update.zip in case a Dev is interested in including it in any Custom ROM they may be working on.

I just updated and it kept all of my settings. I didn't have root, but there was no factory reset.

Sent from my ThinkPad Tablet using xda premium

Short answer - no 3.2, ICS only. Should be able to find the release date for ROW on the Lenovo forum.
Evo 4G LTE
Evo View 4G
ThinkPad 183827U
GNote N8013

I'm sure there will be too! I read one main purpose of OTA2 was to kill the vulnerability DrBliss found to acheive our root. Since Lenovo/ThinkPad is a business line of machines they didn't like the root -- according to the article it weakens enterprise security.
