[TUT][NEO V ] Flashing, Rooting, ADB drivers, ClockWork-Mod Installation

1) Installing ADB Drivers

Download the ADB drivers extract them

ADB Driver download RE UPLOADED
See attachments

Plug phone to PC
Cacnel automatic Driver installation
Go to My computer > Manage > Device Manager > Click on your Phone will be named "SEMC USB HOST" or something
*You'll get SEMC USB host
Im getting the ADB device as i've installed drivers


Tehn doubled click the device and hit
"Update Driver"


Then browse to the selected directory where you extraced the ADB drivers


2) Rooting

OFF TOPIC : New firmware available 4.0.2.A.0.62DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS FIRMWARE MANY USERS ARE REPORTING ROOTING PROBLEMS

And extract it
Connect your Device to PC

Before u begin:
(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
(6) skip "PC Companion Software" prompt on device


And then Run "runme.bat"
Then Hit key " 1 "

Wait for a while
And you are now rooted

3) Installing ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6

Works on Locked Bootloader

Download these files

Before u begin:
(1) Increase screen timeout to 10 minutes

1. Extract the above files
2. Browse to the Folder
3.Enable USB Debugging on device
4.Connect your device using usb data cable
5. Run " install-cwm1.cmd" for Neo V
6.Follow on screen instruction

Notes to everyone:

Do NOT use this recovery if you are not in Stock 2.3 firmware.

TO enter CWM
When your phone boots, repeatedly press the volume down button
After a while you will be greeted with a cyan coloured screen

BUTTON BEHAVIOR ON NEO V

back button : back
home button : select option
menu button : scroll down
volume up/down : scroll up/down

Credits for CWM go to "Nobodyatall"

4) FLASHING KERNELS/ROMS
This option will require your phone have its BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED

What is Fastboot ??
Fastboot is protocol used to update the flash filesystem in Android devices from a host over USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images.

Download Fastboot HERE

A)Flashing a Kernel
1.Download the above Fastboot files
2.Extract the files
3.Connect device in Fastboot mode
a. Power off device
b. Continuously press the Menu buttong
c. Then insert USB cable and connect to PC
*Do not leave button yet !!!
d. You will notice the LED light as blue
*You can now leave the button

Download Kernel for your Neo V
*Search the Xperia Neo Android Development Forum
Download the Kernel file
It will be named "boot.img
Copy this file to the Fastboot folder
Like this


Then press the "Shift button" and simultaneously press the "Right mouse click"
and then click "Open Command Prompt Here"
then type this in the CMD
" fastboot flash boot boot.img "

Let fastboot do its magic
Wait for a while
Then when the installation is over
Disconnect your device and Power it on

Congratulations you have installed a custom Kernel

B) Installing a ROM
A Rom usually come as "Update.zip" file
Download a compatible ROM for your device
*Search the Xperia Neo Android Development Forum

Copy the Update.zip to the root of your SD CARD
Power OFF device
Now Power ON device

Boot into CWM
Press the volume down button at boot

While in CWM


1) Wiping Cache Partition
Scroll down to "wipe cache partition"
And press Menu button
then scroll down to "Yes" and again press Menu button

2) Wiping Dalvik Cache
Scroll down to "Advanced"
Press Menu button
Then scrool down to "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Press Menu button
Then again Scroll down to "Yes- Wipe Dalvik cache"

3)Wiping Data
Scroll down to "Wipe data/factory reset"
Press Menu button
Then scroll down to "Wipe data/factory reset"
Press Menu button

Then to flash the ROM
Scroll down to "Install zip from SD card"
And then Browse for "Update.zip"
Which you extracted in the root of SD card and select it
Then Install it

Congratulations you have installed a custom ROM

All credits go to the Creators of the programs and methods used to Root, Flash, Clockwork Mod etc
I have only compiled all this into one thread
Do not blame me if you mess up your device etc

EDIT: I shall fine tune this thread by addding more pictures and videos soon

Sorry, I have no idea how this works for Neo V, and I think I need to follow your guide for ADB drivers myself first

can someone help me out here..im a newbie..just want to know something before doind the above thing.. since there is a way of installing Clockwork mod recovery in Locked Bootloaders then what is the use of it when we are unable to flash a custom rom nor a kernel in locked bootloader..so basically my point is what are the uses of CWM in locked bootloaders

ONLY point IS backup, restore your stock rom
