FIRST OF ALL THIS IS A GUIDE FOR ALL WHO WANT ANDROID ON THEIR SE XPERIA X1 DEVICES AND DON'T KNOW HOW
I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICES SO AS DEVELOPERS
THE MAIN PURPOSE FOR THIS GUIDE IS THE AVALANCHE OF NEWBIES ON
XPEROID FACEBOOK PAGE

First thing you need to know is what type of ROM you need: FAT32, EXT2, CWM or NAND
You can find a list with all Android ROMs for our devices here

1. MicroSD ROMs: FAT32/EXT2/CWM.
This ROMs are recommended if you don't want to lose your Winows Mobile data or if you want just to test and run Android on your devices.
By using this ROMs, after a restart in Android you will go back in Windows Mobile

a. FAT32 ROMs
Those are the simplest and with less performance ROMs.
Install instructions:
  • copy all files in the ROOT of your FAT32 formatted MicroSD card
  • run HaRET.exe
Main advantages: They are easy to run, you need just 1 partiton on your SD card, if you want to go back to WM (Windows Mobile) just restart your phone.
Main disadvantages: Performance is low, stability is low, they are mainly old ROMs

b. EXT2 ROMs
Those ROMs have better performance than FAT32 BUT they require 3 different partitions on your MicroSD card
Before doing anything else you have to partition you MicroSD card
Partitioning Instructions:
  • Install Minitool Partition manager
  • Open Minitool Partition manager
  • Connect your phone to your pc via USB or connect plug MicroSD card into the PC using a MicroSD adapter
  • Delete Existing Partition from SDCard
  • Create Fat32 Partition, Set As Primary!!!
  • Create EXT2 Partition, Set As Primary!!!
If you still have doubts watch this video:
http://youtu.be/oyO6DOS1leQ
Installing instructions:
  • Download Android & Unzip
  • Copy All Files to Root of SD Card
  • Install Android by Run install.exe from npkinstall Folder (wait until it reboots)
  • Run Haret.exe from Root of SD Card to Run Android
Main advantages: Better stability, smoothness, auto installing.
Main disadvantages: Still not the most stable builds, you need to partition your MicroSD card to run it, if you want another rom you need to format the EXT2 partition from MiniTool Partition Manager
c. CWM ROMs
Currently those are the most popular ROMs because of performance and mobility, although you also need to partition your MicroSD card.
Those are splitted in EXT2+CWM and EXT3+CWM, the only difference being at partition creating stage. (EXT3+CWM ROMs are known to have more stability and speed than EXT2+CWM)
Partitioning instructions
  • Install Minitool Partition manager
  • Open Minitool Partition manager
  • Connect your phone to your pc via USB or connect plug MicroSD card into the PC using a MicroSD adapter
  • Delete Existing Partition from SDCard
  • Create FAT32 Partition (rest) Set As Primary!!!
  • Create 1st EXT2/EXT3(depending on ROM) (System / about 150 MB ) Set As Primary!!!
  • Create 2nd EXT2/EXT3(depending on ROM) (Data / about 250 MB) Set As Primary!!!
  • Create 3rd EXT2/EXT3(depending on ROM) (Cache / about 100 MB) Set As Primary!!!
If you still have doubts, watch this:
http://youtu.be/6a65Aa7_FDk
Installing instructions
  • Download ROM and extract it
  • Run HaRET from NPKBOOT folder
  • Wait until it says to press volume down shortly and then Press volume down button SHORTLY but firmly
  • You will go in CWM Recovery, where you will navigate using the d-pad/volume buttons
  • Go to Install ZIP from SD card>Choose Zip from SD card
  • Locate your ZIP file (ROM itself) and choose it
  • When install is finished press power button several times until you see the CWM Recovery main menu
  • Choose Reboot System now
  • After restart run HaRET from NPKBOOT folder and wait for Android to boot.
  • Restart
  • Go again in CWM recovery (Wait until it says to press volume down shortly and then Press volume down button SHORTLY but firmly)
  • Go to Install ZIP from SD card>Choose Zip from SD card
  • Locate gapps.zip and select it
  • When install is finished press power button several times until you see the CWM Recovery main menu
  • Choose Reboot System now
  • After restart run HaRET from NPKBOOT folder and that's it
Main advantages: Most stable and FAST MicroSD ROMs, no need to format partitions from minitool to reinstall ROM or to install other ROMs
Main disadvantages: Harder to install than other MicroSD card ROMs

2.NAND ROM(s)
WARNING:If you install this ROM, you will erase ALL your data on your phone and replace your WM with Android

You can always switch back to any windows mobile ROM by flashing the official or a custom windows mobile ROM just like when you had windows mobile using the Official Sony Ericsson ROM Update utility or SD Card KOVSIMG method as the SPL or windows mobile bootloader will not be effected
This ROM has several bugs but with last modifications it can be used as daily ROM.
Install instructions
  • Do a HardSPL
  • Download android.zip from here and unzip it
  • Unzip LKBootloader.zip and copy kovsimg.nbh on the ROOT of MicroSD card
  • Download ROM (and Gapps if needed) and copy them on your MicroSD card
  • Extract KovskyAdvancedRUU.zip and run Kovsky Advanced RUU
  • Choose "Task 29 only" and follow the instructions
  • Pull out your battery, then put it back
  • Go into HTC Bootloader (KEEP PRESSED volume down+power button)
  • When the wizard ask you to install something press power button
  • Once it's done, take off the battery and put it back in
  • Extract fastboot.zip
  • Connect X1 to PC via USB cable and install drivers if necessary
  • Go in Fastboot folder and run Recovery.bat
  • Pull out your battery, then put it back
  • Turn on phone and continuously press several times camera button JUST HALFWAY(like focusing camera in WM)
  • Choose Reboot System now
  • Wait for Android to boot.
  • Restart
ONLY IF GAPPS NOT INCLUDED IN ROM
  • Go again in CWM recovery (Turn on phone and continuously press several times camera button JUST HALFWAY)
  • Go to Install ZIP from SD card>Choose Zip from SD card
  • Locate gappsxxxxxx.xxxxxx.zip and select it
  • When install is finished press power button several times until you see the CWM Recovery main menu
  • Choose Reboot System now
If you have doubts watch this:
http://youtu.be/K316cYJEgVM - part 1
http://youtu.be/AF0qszjFDjU - part 2
Main Advantages: Android boots after pressing power button, it is VERY FAST, and currently more people are interesting in it, it becomes more and more stable at each update.
Main Disadvantages: It has a few bugs which not permit using it at full capacity, battery life is reduced, there is NO 3D HW acceleration.

You're wrong about "b. EXT2 ROMs"
Those require just two partition
Swap isn't used if you don't enable it

Hi
I have problem with booting ext3 (cwm) android

I tried newest Code Butter as ext3 android and I could flash it using cwm, but after that every boot i get:

Code:
[STRIKE]Due to the new acoustic code you need to have Csv files in the root of the sd-card
Failed
Copy all CSV from /Windows,to do that you may use Total Commander
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
/# _[/STRIKE]
However i cant find any csv files, maybe i dont see them as there is so many other files in /Windows folder

I downloaded haret and moonlight's kernel from code's thread and unpacked it to root of fat32 partition on my sdcard (exactly to root of it, without any folders, the files are mixedd with one made by windows (if it made any))

As NAND WM i have Touch X 10.10 OMG. Maybe I need to be on stock to get csv files and only after copying them i can move to custom wm?

EDIT: So i copied al csv from /Windows to /sdcard and it go further, but than stop when there is a lot of text/numbers and even after 30 min it still doesnt boot android

Ok i made it and ewerything is fine now

Thanks in advance
