The "half" root is kind of a missnomer now that we know exactly why. It's coded into the kernel to not allow system to be remounted as read/write. Maybe Richard can figure out how to patch the kernel. If not, then we will have to wait for the kernel source to be released.

Alternatively it can be made to boot with system left in read/write
mode. But that is pretty dangerous.

That would be interesting, I suppose it would allow me to save files from the browser directly on my LAN shares. Im using cifs, but obviously only apps with root access let me write to LAN. Do you think by having defacto r/w access, any apps could have some kind of root access?

link to dropbox share
https://www.dropbox.com/link/17.Y8tc...a73&eh=cc9f343

it will be uploaded in around 3 hours -- the time for the files to finish arriving then to synchronise with dropbox

Check the file sizes fit with
Filename: FLEXREAPER-ICS-R2-DATA-PACKET.zip
Size: 179.2 MB (187879276 bytes)

and
Filename: FLEXREAPER-ICS-R2.zip
Size: 287.6 MB (301558014 bytes)
before trying to begin...

hope this can help a bit . . .

here's one ready to go!

FYI to any one using Titanium backup, it would freeze on me after 3 or 4 apps and I'd have to force close it and start over. It worked it just took a few minutes.

Root Explorer works fine on mine. Of course, I can't switch /system to read-write, but that's a known issue.

Could be, Root explorer needs to be updated for ICS. Didn't get FC with File Explorer HD

Then try your checks. If you can't write, and get an error, then you don't have true SU rights. Will have to wait awhile for a fix. Remember, this is just a test on the leaked version. As in the OP, there are going to be issues, and these are promised. If you don't want to tolerate the issues, then just stay with 3.2 or 3.2.1.

No need for root tbh. This ics business runs extremely fast and smooth. I'm loving it. Thanks bfranklin for the mirror!

Other than the known issues, this ROM will likely be my daily right now. I'm running Nova Launcher and overall running smooth. Nice having a camera.

Well that didn't come out right.... meant to say, other than the known issues this ROM is really smooth and solid. I'll be using it as my daily now.

Thanks to the devs.

Except for the ability to remount /system as read/write, all other root functionality is there. Anything that requires root will work EXECPT if it tries to remount /system as read/write.
